Large Scale Central

Clarks Emporium

of what I have no idea yet. When I bought the Virgina Falls station to use as the freight end of the Mancos depot, I also bought the Long Branch Saloon from CMS. My intention was to bash it into something and maybe get some inspiration of what it would become. At the same time I also picked up the recessed store front from Scale Art Models.

And I found a piece of cove modeling that I wanted to slice up and use for corbels. Well, I got fancy and made a half oval top piece for the building.

Since all I had on hand at the time was the Evergreen Styrene V groove siding and glued 4 layers of that to the top. I made it 4 boards wide of the .250" stuff.

I still have no idea what type of business it will be, but it should be distinctive…

Nice building. There was once an old hotel in Ontario just above the rrj tracks with building fronts that looked the same as the one you changed.

Ken that is going to be a distinctive building. Maybe it could be a general store?

Bob

It’s obviously an old Odd Fellows hall with “I.O.O.F.” and a date in the circular upper part that has been since converted into a drugstore and soda fountain with living quarters above.  Well…just a thought.

Richard you got it. I know I recognized the arch. But until you mentioned IOOF I could not place it. Here in my small town we have it, right on main street. A second hand store or something on the main floor and some rental apartments above with one unit on the top floor for some other fraternal organization.

Great start on a nice looking build. I like that you have gotten creative on the front detail. Looks like a Clarks Emporium to me

Nice…LOL …love the name!

I got inspired…why didn’t I think of this before?..

What will you do for the interior?

I glued a shelf under the front windows, so I 'll have to find something to put on those and probably just a picture of an interior behind that.

No table and chairs? You can always put up some cafe curtains…

Whose gonna bend over that far to look in the winders…not me… Well I thought about having the gourmet chef and maitre 'de looking out the window, but figgered that would just scare away the clientele…

You should do that! That would look great.
