Ok, I know this topic has been discussed on here before. I am wanting to make some clapboard siding, I have a table saw and have seen this type of siding made, but i cannot find the post. Can some of you who have done this before explain the ends and outs of your methods?. I do have a dado blade set also for my saw. I think this was used or mentioned in the post …Thanks , Travis

Travis, here is a free plan:
3/8 " wide dado cuts makes about 8" clapboard. You will have to experiment on some scrap to get it set just right.
I would cut several boards at the same time, one pass on each, then move the fence.
The cut depth is really small < 1/16".
Set angle at 5 degrees and have teeth of blade just clear table top. Use a wood face on your fence. or start your first cut 3/8" in from the edge of your stock. Depending on your scale move fence 4",6",8", or 12", after each pass.
Each of the previous sizes determine the height you set your blade and how far you move the fence. Trial and error on a scrap piece will help your accuracy for the finished piece.
I work on the left side of the fence and move the fence away from the blade with each pass
A trick I learned for making accurate repetitive cuts at an even spacing is to first cut as many spacer blocks as you plan to have cuts. Then set your fence for the largest gap between fence and blade. Make your first cut, then insert one spacer between fence and workpiece. Make cut #2. Add a second spacer block and repeat.
It’s probably best for safety if the spacer blocks have a way of interlocking. Perhaps pins and holes like table leaves.
Dave - you need to redo that drawing. It’s on a paper towel, not a napkin!
All our napkins (wives preference) are heavily printed with flowers, vines and etc. Just the thing for manly trains. I’ll have to steal some from the break room. Very Cheep and thin. It will rule out the use of a sharpie thou.
Hey guys Thanks!!! I knew some of ya would help me out… Travis
Don’t you guys recognize and engineering form when you see it?
