Large Scale Central

Civil War-era 1/32nd Scale locomotive and passenger car

coming from Andrea - mixed cast and photo-etch parts - see

Might be of interest to those who have been looking for such a model to add to their collection.

NOT motorised, though, nor capable of being motorised without a considerable amount of work.

Not sure about the loco, but the “pin-up” figurines grabbed my attention. Hoo-ah!

Hmmm…over 500 Euros for a static model?

Five schmive.

It’s only money.

What else to do with it?

Trying to figure out, what is the scale of the figures. The Pin-ups very nice, but there looks like a lot of other useful figures, but I couldn’t find what the scale was.

Try picking a figure group i.e. russion warriors and the individual pics you come to on that page give you the figure price and the scale( in both mm and 1/32)

most figures are either 54mm or 80mm = 1:32 or 1:22.3
some are 90mm that’s more or less 1:20

From what I gather, the gals are 1/22.
They are also made of some kind of metal.
I don’t know what the price is, but obviously they are really expensive.

54mm = 1/32nd or Gauge 1

80mm = 1/22nd - near enough for Fn3 or some of LGBs stuff.

90mm = 1/20th - spot on for Fn3, and almost right for 16mm

I really like that 4-4-0, could be the Bachmann 4-4-0’s daddy! I can’t say I’d mind having one in 1:20.3, something a little different.

Mark,

It’s a very nice loco, and being standard gauge, has really big driving wheels either side of a relatively small boiler. Bachmann’s is a 3’ gauge loco (and 1:20 scale not 1:32 like this model) so the wheels are smaller to fit under the boiler.

If you scaled up the 1:32 locomotive and put it next to the 1:20th 4-4-0 they’d be roughly the same size, but the standard gauge loco would have larger wheels.

P.S. Bigger wheels lets you run faster. Standard gauge track was often in better shape than narrow gauge 3’ track, so higher speed was desirable.

Pete,

I agree, the larger drivers are eye-catching! To me it’s the drastic boiler taper that has a big impact as well.

A “silly” aside…My Bachmann 4-4-0 has a “gas” lantern out front but none on the tender. It “goes out” when I reverse direction! :slight_smile:

Ooh, now that’s a handsome locomotive! Much better looking than the General model kit IMO.

So, we get one of each, make a mold, and cast our own. I'll bet the geezers in the club would ....

Nah, would never work… :stuck_out_tongue:

A moment, please, I just tripped over my tongue. :lol:

I’m fairly certain this is the Bachmann 4-4-0’s Daddy. Ralph

Ralph, I can’t tell you how many times I have looked at that beauty and though about painting up a Bachmann 4-4-0 just like her! I even had a custom set of dry transfers quoted (OMG! $$$). I also have a friend that runs his own laser business, looked into cutting styrene “kits” for the open coaches, but even with the "friends and family discount we’d be looking at major bucks. There are so many differences between the two engines but enough similarities to make it “pass”. Great, there go those thoughts again.

Your pictures? I took that tour as well, the most fun I have ever had at Disney!!!

I've had the same thoughts myself since doing the tour. I believe Stan Cedarleaf could do decals at a reasonable cost.

As for the open coaches, maybe the cost can be reduced by getting a few others involved.
Ralph

You are not helping Ralph…not at all.

Maybe I’ll go back for a re-quote on that lasering…
