I like to place my stuctures on steel bases that have 2-3 inches around the so figures and Details can be setup and can all be left alone and kept clean because of no splattering mud.

After being assembled the structure gets primed and painted on both inside and outside.

Good grief! Nice work, that should last a good while…

Excellent work Dennis I look forward to following this thread. You can be sure that one day your station will be in some antique collectors window - it just isn’t going to wear out or rot.

Now that is awesome, Like to see what you do to it next. Regards,Ron

Very cool!

Terry

Wow, nice metal work.

Wow what a neat building and a testament to what a skilled guy with an imagination and the proper tools can do.

I’m looking forward to the finishing touches you will put on.

I made the windows and doors, have 2 layers of window and door casing so They stick out
farther than the siding. 2 Layers of 1/16", and the Redwood horizontal siding finishes out at 3/32" on the thick end. I cut all my siding as induvidual pieces that makes installing it basically
just like the real siding is installed. As most of my structures are to look old and rugged the
induvidual pieces make it easy to stager joints and create un even siding resulting in some awesome looking siding.
With this building the siding is to look new and installed neatly, then with 2 coats of paint to make it look as a well maintained structure. The verticle siding is also redwood, that has been resawed and finished to 3/32" thick. The siding has been scribed to resemble a car siding type siding. I have had great results using a adhesive called Lexel glue. It looks just like a clear silicone and I am sure a good quality of silicone would work. I had a bad experience with several tubes of GE clear silicne and had shyed away from that brand.

That structure will outlive Keith Richards and Ozzy Osborne

Dennis thanks for the explaination of how you cut the beveled siding. That should be easy to do in my shop.

BTW your station is looking “AWESOME”. I’m going to have to try that Magic Sculpt, where do you buy it from?

Chuck

What remarkable skills you have: an inspiration to many to emulate -the thread just gets better and better Dennis.

I believe you use the term Museum quality to describe an outstanding model: it certainly fits that bill.

What they all said!..

Impressive!

Nicely done,

Is that made of steel?

What modeling software are you using?

Nico

That looks great. Once done, one will never now ist all metal underneath the wood.

that looks very fine to me.
the forklift raises the question, how much this building weights?
