Boys, Here’s “Stumpy”, my Dash 4.5. He started out as an empty Aristo Dash-9 shell. Now channeled and riding on a shortened FA-1 frame and trucks.
I like it , for those of us that are curve radius impaired , it looks GREAT !
And yes I know for a fact that a AC Dash 9 will go around a 5 foot diameter curve , but , it looks and sounds horrible .
John, you’re just full of surprises this year. From taking over the garden area to diesels on a NG line. Looks good keep it up
I like it too
Ralph
Hey John, me thinks that “Stumpy” needs a new paint job. Something colorful that stands out with your rolling stock. Yellow and Black maybe.
Chuck
Yeah, he’ll be painted one of these days.
Shortening the -9 made the cab look fatter, about the same width as my K-27.
So now Stumpy is a 1:20.3 NG dismal.
I’m shivering with joy!
That is a trip!
What really gives it carachter is cab looking about 3 sizes too big.
Can I convince you to make that deck truss out of steel? Love the tie work on deck want to do the same thing on mine!
Which one, Rooster.
He’s on the double track in the top pic, and the single track in the bottom two.
I’ll run out and get a TIG, some metal, get it powder coated.
$1,500 should cover it.
I decided the USA geep fuel tank I used was too short, so I cut up what was left of the original Dash-9 tank (I only had 1/2 of it) and will put it on today. I will also add some weight in the tank.
Then off to the paint shop.
Love it! But aren’t you even a little afraid of those ‘gummi’ ruler comments? lol
Actually, It almost makes me want a diseasel to play with… Oh wait, I do have one, but it is 32mm…

I took the 1/2 fuel tank and cut it in 1/2, made new ends for it, and stuck it on. Looks much better. It rides about 1/4" above the railhead. Now it’s all Aristo. Hey, maybe Loowee Polk will want to produce it.
Let the Wee Gummi’s complain. They’re just jealous.
True up that air tank! …
You only need a mig welder …no powder coating as rust is natural weathering!
Neat build John.
Neat idea.
