Chicken Dance Car

I just bought a collection of Aristo Craft engines and cars, and a few LGB cars .One of the cars is the Chicken Dance Car ( wife favorite ).I took the roof off to see if the sound board worked and found 9 volt battery connection the top wires, two wires that go out of the car the ones on the right side top And of course the speakers wires.I don’t want to smoke the board so I have questions. Are the wires going out of the car for track power pickup If so do I need the 9 volt battery? There is a second set of terminals behind the ones going out of the car,Are they for a different sound then the chicken dance ? There are screw terminals also for what, To light the car if wanted? Here is a picture of the sound board

Thanks for the help Richard

I have a coke car with coca cola song and I need to connect a 9 volt and connect it to the LGB loco (track power) for it to work.

Hope that helps,

Nico

I had the steam chuff system like that.
It wouldn’t run without the battery. The two wires that went to the loco’s plug (on the back of most LGB locos)
just changed the chuff as you sped up and down.
The two screw terminals were never used.
Try it with battery only at first.
The blue thing is the volume.

Richard
I have one of the Chicken Dance Cars.
The battery is necessary for it to work,
the purpose is to supply power for the
sound to finish the cycle after the the
power supply from the locomotive
has been shut down.
I converted mine over to track power
by adding a set of ellgeebee power
pick up wheel sets. My ellgeebee
locomotives have the wrong connector.
The blue wheel is the volume control.

Thanks for the help guys.
I don’t have a LGB loco so I will put a battery on the two wires that go out the top plus the battery for the sound board.
The wires going the the engine are they polarity sensitive?
The other terminals behind the ones that are on the right side , are they a different sound then the Chicken Dance ?

Richard

Where’s Rooster? Isn’t this his bailiwick?

Richard,
If I remember correctly, they are supposed to be
polarity sensitive, red/right-black left?
to be honest I don’t totally remember and the dvd
for the change to track power was put away by SWMBO,
so only jeebus knows where it is.
try matching the hook up on the 9v battery connector,
if you’re going to try a battery.
& remember where the on/off switch is or be prepared
to chicken dance til the battery dies.

Watchin ;)

The sound unit in the chicken dance car is not polarity sensitive as it is used for getting track power either form an engine or by adding metal wheels with power pickups.

Battery is needed for dirty track to keep music playing rather than restarting. If a battery is used for the track power input, then the 9 volt battery is not needed.

Extra terminals are for various LGB cable hook ups. Use a meter to ohm them out.

Note that most LGB sound cars are for analog operation, however the 4 axle coke does have the MTS digital interface.
