My family and I are planning a trip and we are planning on stopping at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago so I can satisfy my train addiction and see the Great Train Story.
I thought I read that you could arrange to get a behind the scenes tour for model railroaders. Does anyone know if that is true?
I did get a behind the scenes tour a couple of years ago. Reason was I was curious about some of the electronics used to control the trains. Talked to a volunteer and he arranged the tour.
Was impressed with the amount of equipment they had.

If you have time go see illinois Railroad museum, you an spend a lot of time there, awesome place.

Where is that located. I am only spending a day in Chicago on our way to Tennessee.
If you only have a day, i dont think you will have time, it is in Union IL, about 1-1.5 hours NW of Chicago, Look it up on the Internet, it is worth it if you have time, but you have enough to see in Chicago for 1 day.
