Garrett, I was ticked off with the 850's(change too front drive 5cyl) when they came out in 1993 but realize they were the last of the "Real Indian's" ;) P.S.... The 16v 2.3 900 series was the platform of development for the 850's side windin' 5cyl. which has weak rods not capable of handling over 20psi of boost on a charged motor.
Nothing against FWD, I had a “tuned” '71 Citroen D Special and a '69(.5) DS21 Pallas when I had the Volvos as part of my daily driver fleet in the early 1990s.
We won’t even talk about 960s…did not know that about the 940s. Reportedly the B230Es had con rod problems, but my '85 240 DL gave no trouble other than getting wrecked.
The only old car I would consider owning again would be a Merc W123 240D or 230E or 240 Volvo…
