Well, the issue with a USB cable is a bit different. Despite what the cell companies tell you, as long as the cable fits, it works. 50 cents worth of wire and connector isn’t worth $45.

So much for the connector/cables molds the cell phone makers own.

My point was, (I guess you did not get it or missed it) Trains are NOT the only copies being made in this day and age!

Close examination the the Newqida RhB box car and the tank car shows that while they are close copies they originate from new molds, not the original LGB molds.

My text from GSM:

For an initial report I grabbed the tank car (green “DB”) and the Rh. B. style box car. While these two pieces are very closely copied from original LGB they are produced from NEW MOLDS. (i.e. NOT the original LGB molds!) Almost every part is dimensionally different by around .1 mm plus or minus, some more. There are construction differences such as the box car ventilators being integral with the body rather than a separate part and the tank body has an alignment structure inside the tank near the middle that is absent in an LGB tank. The wood grain of the box body is entirely different including the indifferent way that it ends toward the roof area.

How about the overall quality of the cars you looked at? Plastic wheels?

Yes plastic wheels. They are unpainted and not bad looking for the price. The lettering is “laugh-a-minute”, so paint and decals would be needed.

Have to keep an eye on that site nearing Dec, I have to admit I do like the coaches.

PS on GSM the topic has gone to 17 or 18 pages at last check, some “nashing of teeth” from a few, but most are just looking for a closer source to the UK than the US…:lol:

Well the guys over on a German forum are all hot to trot about the “bargoon”, while some of us went on about the “cheap knock-off”. In order to evaluate this item properly I ordered two silver and one yellow right from the shops Utah site - what is one to do if they’re sold out on Amazon, eh? :slight_smile:

I will give them the proper HJ treatment when they get here, report to follow. One thing is certain already: they are not out of the same moulds as the LGB items.
