Cheap animals

A couple days ago, I bought a pair of horses from Just Plain Folks while at ECLSTS. $35. Seems quite steep, but they’re Safari brand, and nicely detailed / painted. And I need a nice team for an ore wagon I want to make.

But, for garden variety horses… I was poking around and saw that Walmart offers a dozen plastic horses. These appear to have much less detail & paint quality than the Safari horses I bought. And no scale is stated. However, for $36 +$11 s/h, maybe they’re looking purty good.

Digging deeper though, the same set can be had by the seller for $13 + $5 s/h. And they declare the size to be about 4.5" long, which is good enough for me.

So I just ordered a couple sets (24) for $31 total. I’ll let you know whether or not this was a tragic mistake…

Anyway, feel free to post here about your secret animal resources…

If I posted them, they wouldn’t be secret.

Oh my(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif), the last 2 cells are twitching, oh no! brain cramp.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

Unfortunately, those don’t appear to be draft horse poses. Perhaps better in a coral next to your wagon … none of them looked resigned to pull.*

Beware the animal secrets…

If you can find them, Toys R Us has their 50% sale going now on Schleich Toys, tons of horses in various poses for G scale (1/32 to 1/16 scale)

I bought a tube of toy farm animals at the craft store. The pigs and a sheep are about the right size for 1:24th scale, my scale. The horses were a bit to small. I think the tube of them was like $2, I don’t exactly remember, but I know it wasn’t much.
