Cheap Amtrak cars?

I must find some for my new Genesis locomotive. After I saw this video of a fellow that had a new Phase V pulling freight cars , I suddenly became ill. LOL

Anyway, perhaps one of you railroaders up in here can spare a few moments and tell me where I might locate some cars.

I know LGB made some. I even saw some scratch built double stack Superliner cars. real nice, but very much impossible for me to make.

A company called Great Trains made a line up of superliners. they turn up for sale every once in a while. I think they’re only Phase III or earlier though and are 1:32 scale. dunno how they’ll look with an LGB Genesis.

There isn’t any “cheap” Amtrak cars. LGB is really proud of theirs.

MTH made some 1:32 repaints.

That’s about it.

You could get some silver USA 1:29 cars and decal them…

The Aristo smoothsides can be dolled up a bit (phase 3 or phase 4) if can score them at the right price.

I have an Amtrak Aristo FA/FB and three passenger cars, never run.

The only way to get cars cheap is to buy out a retiring hobbyist. I know a chap that does this and then sells off the items he doesn’t want.

In one thread Stacy said that he would spend whatever he needed to to have the trains he wanted and the layout he wanted. Then he started this thread about cheep Amtrak cars. Stacy was so inconsistent in his posts it actually became kind of annoying. But, due to other annoyances, Bob tossed Stacy off the site.

John, well, actually the engineering department of the Shannon Car Shops is working on a plan to mount generators on the axles of all the freight cars, so that we have can have free electricity to run our trains with.
