Chatters weigh in on establishing a regular chat time

Cast your vote or state your opinions as to whether or not it would be useful to have a regular chat time (once a week) when folks could show up and be reasonably certain of finding others to chat with. I have heard comments from others that they quit chatting because they can never find anyone on line. It doesn’t mean that the chatroom would be closed the rest of the time it would just establish a regular gathering time. Lysol has done this for years and it seems to work for them.

I like the scheduled time and understand what you are talking about. Many times I just need a reminder to go to the chat room. Sorry, just many things that take my time and I don’t think about it until about an hour after it is over.

I’d more likely be more involved in chat if I knew there would be somebody to chat with.

6 pm west coast time on Saturday… then us working stiffs have a chance… that puts the east coast at 9… not too bad… later puts the east coasters too late, earlier is in prime running time on the west coast…

Regards, Greg

It used to be that Thursday evening after 20:00 EDLST was the time the lock came off the fridge door in the chatroom. But then we ended up with a bunch of teatoadelers and the place seemed to shut down.

As important as a gathering time is to get people to chat when they’re on the chat. I gave up because even when there were two or three others there it was 5 minutes or more between replies if I got one at all. Makes for a mighty long discussion! Was giving me a “complex” too.

Yes, young Richard…quite correct…gets very frustrating

Geez, Richard. I thought I was the only one having that problem. I quit because I thought I was being shunned because my deodorant wasn’t working. :frowning:

And all this time I thought “chat tag” was normal around here. Every time I say “hi” the person I say it to disappears

…so; for the “Working poor”; we will now have a set SATURDAY EVENING opening of the CHAT ROOM, and for the “Poorer”, retired class; we’ll still have the THURSDAY EVENING CHAT.

Terry; stock up the bheer fridge, and I’ll wash the windows…let’s get this CHAT ROOM back into action.

Knorm…please get new cuspidoors…we still have a few people that enjoy a “Chaw”.

Bart…more sawdust for the floor.

Ken.......new "Dancing girls". The ones we had have retired.

 Gary.......higher playnes/plains/planes, please.

So what times are being established on Thursday? And what time on Saturday?

Thursday evenings used to start finding people around 21:30 EST/EDLST; but then itb could run until Gary turned off his work light at 23:00.

Filling the “Bheer Fridge” is a very important part of the Chat culture. It should have bheer for the masses, and a few cans of pop for the rest…!!!
Then of course; later in the evening, Richard breaks out the Merlot, and we can usually find a dram or three of a reasonable Scotch Whisky.

BTW...who stole the brass spitoon, with the RGS logo on the side ? Or did Bobby put in his personal collection at the new shop. We really need it for the odd ceegar, that shows up once in a while.

Sorry Fred but I needed the brass spitoon to decanter the Merlot! Tom insists on it. Class you know!

I refuse to join the chat unless and until I can bring my red wine to the room......Make sure that you occasionally clean the spitoon, Richard

Well, I’m not so sure what’s special about Thursday night. That’s the night Lysol does their chat. Friday night is probably not a good choice. My only problem with Saturday or Sunday is that a lot of folks are involved with family things but my mind could be changed. Could we be different and do it on Wednesday instead of Thursday or is Thursday a holy day in Branch Railroadian theology ?

As the only “Branch Railrodian friar” on duty at this time. I have looked in all volumes of the sacred literature at hand; and can only find one refference to Thursday night chatting.
The words were written by the young Bishop of Ft.Gay.
He said at the time, that he thought of Thursday evenings as a “Rest from reality, best spent with others of the same mindset”.
Other than that, it just seemed that Thursday evenings were a non-official Chat Night on LSC…sort of a “Default” night.

We can always change anything if the will is there. Now we just have to find “Will”

The idea of having two chat nights as “OFFICIAL CHAT NIGHTS” is comendable. For those not able to use the weekday chat; the Saturday one makes sense.

SO…Unless some powerful person of great strength of mind come in with anything better. I suggest as a start; that we establish a time.
The time suggested was 21:00 EDLST/EST…this seems good for both the “Left” and “Right” coasts.
As far as the days are concerned; Saturday seems good, and the weekday is up for debate.

All for Thursday; vote fast.........or Wednesday might get the business.

Fr.Fred

Although it wouldn’t affect me, some that are regular church goers might find Wednesday unacceptable as that would interfere with midweek prayer meetings.

I don’t know about LSC chat, but I tried to chat on the other forum and was completely ignored, while the regulars kept chatting as if I wasn’t even there. I guess you have to be one of the clique or chosen few.
Just my observation…

I’ve sometimes felt that way too John.

I stopped by on Thursday night. The Friar and New York John were there, but both were leaving before I could get their attention. I had a note here to remind myself, but I forgot to read the note until I was late.
