Large Scale Central

Change ahead!

A short note to friends on LSC. Times are a changing.

It has been noted by several people that of late I have been a bit absent on the forums. Well, about mid December I was informed by the owner of the Corporation that I work for, that she had excepted an offer for a buy out, and that the details had to be worked out, but everyone would keep their jobs.

I have been working heavy hours thru all of Jan and Feb to make the transition go smooth, and I must admit that the build challenge may have suffered a bit from not having my Un-divided attention.

I was concerned from the start, that usually in a corporate buy out, the top managers are usually the first to go, replaced with people from the new company. Well, my concerns were well founded, despite assurances to the contrary.

I was notified today that I will not be working for the new company. Sooooo I have 12 days of PTO left and 8 days till the 1st. I will be Un employed come the first of April. Big Bummer… not sure whats ahead.

More time for trains I guess… and finish up some of the started projects on the shelves.

Damn, sorry to hear that

That sucks. I managed to close down three solo practice doctors offices, and finally got the message, it was time to retire. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Sorry to hear that, Dave.

I went through a corporate buyout where I work last Summer.

So far, I’m still working… for 20% less.

Best of luck to you!

Ralph

That sucks Dave, actually it just really pisses me off. Sorry that this is happening.

Damn it Dave, that is really bad news. I was wondering why you seemed a little distracted during the Challenge, and now we know why. It’s a miracle of dedication that you managed to keep it all together as you brilliantly did.

I surely hope this is a case of one door closing so another can open…in the meantime, keep us posted on your model railroading opportunity. Too bad it had to come to you in an involuntary way.

Hang in there.

Aw man, sorry. And as John said, I do hope this is one of thiose one door closing so another door can open, thinngs.

Sorry to hear this Dave. Good luck in whatever comes next.

Bummer! Best of luck to you. I’m sure something better will come along.

-Kevin.

Mannnnn…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif) Dave good luck!

I wish you well for the future Dave. I have a T shirt for that kind of event! As someone else said as one door closes another often opens, hopefully that will be so.

Dave, so sorry to hear that. I hope the next job brings new opportunities for you.

Sorry to hear that Dave. I have worked at a couple of jobs that weren’t bought out but did close their doors and it sure can leave one with an empty feeling.

Hope good things will be in store for you after you get around this bend in the track.

Sorry to hear the news Dave. Hopefully you will find something soon and it will be even better. Good luck.

Bummer Dave. Thanks for your dedication to LSC even through tough times. I’m sure you’ll come out on top, you’re a dynamic guy and that will take you far.

Dang!

Keep your glass half full and be positive, the Big Guy has plans for you…

John

It sucks when they tell you everyone will keep their jobs, and then a few months later… bang!

Sort of like what it must have been for Aristo employees when they were adamant about not closing down, and then bang, they were gone.

Or like when the federal government says that you will be able to keep your existing doctor under Obama-care, then you find that you can’t even under a PPO. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Dave, is there any way that you can “freelance” or go into consulting?

When I was laid off 21 years ago, I couldn’t find work so went into business for myself (environmental consulting). While my company didn’t have enough work to keep me busy, between them and their competitors there was plenty of work to go around (at 2.5 times the salary), and I was working half the hours for more than twice the pay out of my home with all of the write-offs that go with it.

All it takes is a specialty talent. Is that something you could do?

Now that REALLY sucks!

I run a small company, and insurance is a BIG issue, and it’s an expensive proposition for many people. I will stop here because this is bordering on politics, but it’s a tough financial burden on many people. My assistant just asked for a raise, her health insurance is $400 a month, but her yearly deductible is $6,300 … that seems awfully high.

Greg

Sorry to hear the news, Dave. Take a break and have a good attitude.

Remember you can always be abused here - for free!
