Large Scale Central

Chaity Run today!

At the Pastor Latham Almshouses in nearby Barnwell, Northamptonshire. We are raising money to build a washroom extension to the 17th century chapel at the top end of the gardens that you see here in the videos -

Parts 1 & 2.

In order to comply with the Grade 1 listed historic buildings laws, the new extension has to be built in exactly the same fashion, down to the mortar and exact same stone from the original quarry. Needless to say, all this costs a fortune - at least ten times more than building it out of modern materials and structures. So any way we can raise money is good.

Me and Broos set up around 9:30 and ran until almost 1pm - by which time we were all answering questions out. Met lots of old friends, including Derek, who had seen, as a young boy, the crash that killed the four Canadian airmen whose graves I care for here, among others. That, however, is another story.

Michael - thank you - a lesson there, I think, and apologies, to all.

I’m having a lot of problems with YT over the last few days - and do not seem to be able to resolve them.

Not one of the videos I watch has a control bar at the bottom, like I used to see, and use.

Any ideas, anybody?

tac;

Looks as though ig got to enjoy watching the trains from his special chair.

Hey tac: There are locos that where not run in the UK, or at least I don’t think so any way. As well as log bunks behind a Shay! Nice rifle! Good to see that the people in the UK like trains too. and good to see you as well.

Paul

Good stuff tac. Looks like a fun day. Love the Shay.

Paul, apart from the narrow gauge stuff [everybody likes NG, right?], I’m not into UK mainline trains - just way too finicky for me. We have a load of Canadian and American stuff, though, in 1/29th AND Fn3, including a few of all the Bachmann geared locos, a couple of connies, an AccuCraft K27 and nice long train, and a ten-wheeler too that we drag out every now and then with six or seven WP&Y cars ahint it.

As for MI, we have five each Dash9 and SD45, three sets of FAs in CN/CP, and a load of German and Canadian live-steam in Gauge 1 [and a load of LGB stuff as well…] plus around 100 or so cars to fit.

I’m just about to do some work on the Garratt to hopefully improve the steaming characteristics…keep your tentacles crossed!

PS - Can ANYBODY advise me why I have ‘lost’ the control bar on Youtube movies?

PPS - Got fifteen rifles and three handguns here in UK, me.

What’s not to love about a Shay? Busy like ten one-armed paperhangers in a decorating competition and going nowhere fast. I have four of them and often run the three electric version together just so’s I can see all the wiggly bits.

A life dream for me is to have a 3" to the foot NG Shay to run on the track over here where I run my Welsh diesel - ain’t never going to happen, but dreams are cheap, right?
