Hey all, I’ve been whittling away at this project for a couple years and now it’s finished. This is a USA Trains GP38-2 modified to represent DT&I’s version of thier Bicentennial unit. Lots of modifications on this one. Enjoy!
Nice paint work
Beautiful.
That first picture is a great “Builder’s Photo”.
Ralph
NICE!!!
Sean
Sweet!! It looks great!
I’m curious about the bay window on one side of the cab. I’ve never seen that before. What was its purpose? On the model, did you have to add that yourself or did it come with it?
Thanks guys,
Ray: They call it an all weather window. DT&I (and many other northern RRs) put it on many of thier diesels (engineers side only). It allows the engineer the ability to put his head out the window without acually having to be exposed to the frigid temps. But also functions well in warm weather also.
I had to scratchbuild mine.
