CCR receives more motive power

Purchased from the shops at the Sweetwater Canyon RR, The CCR aquires their one-of-a-kind 2-8-2T.

A couple of years ago I had one of these sitting around:

Since I had moved over to 1:20.3 modeling, I asked my good friend and model builder Mike Williams if he had any ideas concerning what I could do with this LGB Mike. We hashed it out and I gave him free rein to build me a 2-8-2T logging loco, scaled to 1:20.3. I had him decal it with his RR. From time to time, I got a pic showing the build progress.

I want to dearly thank Mike for his efforts. A masterpiece and a one of a kind, for sure! Nothing of the original LGB Mikado was kept except for the lower unit: running gear, motor block, pilot and trailer. New boiler, cab, frame, and detail parts.

I really like this!

Very Cool!!! Seriously love that!

Uhm…Any Mikado parts left? I am desperately searching for the two vertical grab bars on the back of the cab, a front mounted bell, and a pilot/cow-catcher, and the engine/tender connector cable. None of the “usual sources” have been able to locate these.

And I have to say it again…Wow!

Thinking on it further…I like the proportions of this much better than the Bachmann 2-6-6-2. Not even sure I’d miss my Mike if it was replaced by this!

Looks great John. Nice addition to your stable.

Dude!
Your a building machine lately …especially for an old guy!
Yes I know it’s coming real fast but I wanna be an old guy too!

Hey David,

Did you not read the entire thread, Mike Williams built this engine for John. Mike does some wonderful work, in fact I think half of our club own’s some “Sweetwater Canyon” rolling stock or locomotives. I can’t wait to see this one run next week at John’s house.

Chuck

Chuck, you have to remember to be nice to David. After all, he’s just a rooster!

Mark,
All the parts were divvied up by the geezers last year when I rid myself of a giant Rubber-Made tote box of junk.

Thanks anyway John…That is one seriously good looking loco (I know, 3rd time I said it!).

Nice! One of my “someday” projects is to take a B’mann outside frame 2-8-0 and do something similar. I like the proportions.

Later,

K

Thanks John and all. I knew I needed to come up with something special for John and it sure came together. John did however waite a long time for it.

Sweet! That’s a good looking loco!

Nice nice John!

Is the articulated chassis ‘locked down’ so that it is a real 2-8-2?

Alec

Very nice work indeed!!! Looks Great!!!
