Rooster meet me at 7:30 Saturday the 8th in front of the hotel, have a spot on the bus reserved for you!:joy:

Is warping of PVC a well known property of Rust-Oleum paint? Or did I do something else wrong?

I did leave it outside in 80 degree sunshine to dry…

I think it was the sunshine being absorbed by the dark color. Get’s real warm quickly.

Gotcha. Sigh. Time to rescore my interior floor and repaint!

Might try laying it on a flat surface and using a heat gun or hair dryer to lay it out flat again.

I am partway through a new one. Not much work. I will probably put braces on as well, to guard against later warping.

I wonder if the paint is attacking the PVC foam somehow, in a non-uniform manner?

Maybe try a small piece indoors or out of the sun, and take the UV or heat out of the equation for a bit of a test? Perhaps concentrate the spray in one area, and not others?

Who knows Jim, you may have hit on a next gen artform: spray-warping!

I did almost exactly what you suggested. There’s another part of the interior (a long bar and wall behind it) that I painted and let dry in the garage out of the sun. No warpage on that. So Jon is (not surprisingly) correct.

I’ve added some wood backing to the larger piece and will paint/dry tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Looking forward to seeing it in person Jim!!!

No warping on try #2. A combo of drying out of the sun plus some bracing.

Here is the smaller piece. The bar in Casey’s saloon interior:

Making slow progress here. Hope it is done enough for the NGRC on July 8.

First, the interior floor and bar area, lit up by LED lights in the ceiling.

Will need to plug those wall cracks so light doesn’t leak out.

Have finished adding the wall cladding, so that’s good.

Here’s the short Main Street. Hope to get lighting hooked up soon.

Nancy Norris is here, pruning and sprucing things up.

That last tree is a Japanese Maple we are trying to bonsai form into a windswept shape.

Really looking forward to meeting you face to face, Jim. Sounds like there is a lot of people coming

Hard to know. Being on the last day, I may have fewer visitors. We’ll have fun even if it is just the 2 of us.

Vegetation has really filled in great Jim. I’ll look forward to some distance views that highlight the layouts growth :sunglasses:

It’s looking AMAZING Jim!

Wish I could be out there.

Well , I’m on a bus , so there will be 3 at least , me my wife and the bus driver. Daughter and 2 kids MAY be a last minute addition!

Starting to build the “party deck” that extends out over the track.

I am making the saloon removable so I can continue working on things. Using nails as pins to hold the deck in place next to the building.

For those that recall Mackenzie’s Mercantile, I will be using the same sign technique here.

Hopefully I will get this done enough for the NGRC!
