Was the Dillsburg Mechanicsburg motor car #15 on display when you were there?
Home to Natty Bo.
Yes it is. At one point, I could even remember where that’s from…but not anymore. I’m thinking West Virginia, but perhaps I just mis-remember?
Man, talking about hijacking a thread.
Its okay we have the prerequisite number of threads to do so. . .
I know its boring at this point but the furnace blower is designed, sliced, and in waiting to hit the printer.
I blame Bruce. . . It’s his fault. . . Show a guy sexy brick and he can’t focus anymore.
I believe that I lost the ability to focus a few years back
I think the ability to focus for a man is 100% a product of senility
Well, that’s me, then: senile!
Well I’m right there with you. . . "Squirrel "
UP, that’s a great movie!
Yes, it was. That was the original reason I went. Beautiful!
Gonna move this topic from the theoretical to the practical. Over on the modeling thread
As promised…I was there today with Hollywood however I didn’t take detail pics ( but Hollywood did) only measurements …More to come and a possible napkin drawing just to see how close you are by measuring a brick as I did with Lemo back in the day in the hood!
There are two access doors the one you can see and a second just behind the taller patch of growth in the center of the pic. Seem to be for feeding the fire.
Upper pic shows pillars for another part of the whole works. These are uphill from the two horizontal tanks located somewhat inline with the main furnace structure.
Lower pic shows the tank structure and the two upright metal bars for what every they where needed for.
Upper pic from the front and rear of the piston support structure.
Lower pic is a close up of the two outlet holes just below the horizontal boiler tanks.
I have a few more but someone needs to reply before the site will let me post them. Can only do three reply’s at a time.
A pair of napkin drawings. Measurements should be pretty close as it wasn’t the easiest thing to measure in the field like that.
Looking up into the base of cylinder in first pic. Note that only the center rod and possibly the center ring move into the upper cylinder hard to be sure
And wouldn’t the mounts on the cross beam be for the connecting rods to the fly wheels And as a note to Devon, on close inspection both drive rods turn as one so the center cross member is pushed or pulled equally.
Second is looking into the base from the rear
third is into the base from front
edited to add note
