Cape Ann Fuel Oil Facility

To go next to the big factory and before I start on the big warehouse. On route 101 near Epping NH lies Buxton Fuel Oil company…I drive by there when taking the bucket truck up to Raymond for service. Buxton has 5, 20,000 gallon, horizontal tanks that they store fuel oil in. It looks like the 18 wheelers bring it in from a tank farm somewhere and it goes out in the typical home delivery tank truck that can peobably be seen just about anywhere… It’s the inspiration for CAFOCo  So begins Cape Ann Fuel Oil Co… From the port of Gloucester to Rockport via rail and then out and about via truck. Tank pedestals are 3/4" Azek (of course) Tanks are 4" PVC pipe (4.5" o.d.) 23" long…which if my math is correct makes the tanks about 40,000 gallons. I prefer short rail cars as short rail cars always look good on curves especially my 15 foot radius stuff…which is why Im’ using USAs 10,000 gallon cars…also I’m running 1950s locos too. Although we’re a branch line so I can run anything. And of course I’m over 60 so I can do whatever I want anyway  Does that make sense… Tanks Have sintra ends which are drying now…trim tomorro

Her’s what one looks like with a 1:32 deliver truck that the grandkids have beat for a few years.

Gotta find mny charger for the camera…shake too much using the phone…

good start. maybe the cape ann tank cars can make a drop some day from the L&GP r.r.

Glue dried on the ends so out came the router to trim them. And off to HD for some copper tube so I can make pipes. This project will probably be slower in construction than the factory…more detail bits can’t be built as fast.

Slow going since I was also working on the loading dock for the factory, but… I needed to make a foundation for the tanks and the RR cars and the trucks as this facility is going to have a lot of pipes to unload/load both. So this is where it’s at. I’ll mount the tank supports then paint it then place the tanks so I can do the piping and platforms etc.
