Can't connect to "Forums"

I can’t connect to “Forums.” I can get any place else, just not to the main Forums page. I get this error message.

Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Zend_Db_Adapter_Mysqli_Exception’ with message ‘Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock’ (2)’ in /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Zend/Db/Adapter/Mysqli.php:352 Stack trace: #0 /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Zend/Db/Adapter/Abstract.php(448): Zend_Db_Adapter_Mysqli->_connect() #1 /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/modules/Core/Bootstrap.php(112): Zend_Db_Adapter_Abstract->query(‘SET time_zone =…’) #2 /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Engine/Application/Bootstrap/Abstract.php(256): Core_Bootstrap->_initDb() #3 /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Engine/Application/Bootstrap/Abstract.php(207): Engine_Application_Bootstrap_Abstract->_executeResource(‘db’) #4 /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Engine/Application/Bootstrap/Abstract.php(150): Engine_Application_Bootstrap_Abstract->_bootstrap(NULL) #5 /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Engine/Application.php in /home4/rmccown3/public_html/application/libraries/Zend/Db/Adapter/Mysqli.php on line 352

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Anyone else having this problem?

If you can’t connect to ‘FORUMS’ how did you post this ? ???

I’m getting the same error, Steve. It’s only connecting through the home page that I get the error.

I only got here by adding /forums to the url.

Not sure why a hardware upgrade would cause it; it didn’t start until this morning.

I got that message once earlier, but hit Refresh and it came back fine.

I THOUGHT I had tried that, but it just kept coming up with the same error. But, now that seems to work.

Working for me. I wasn’t here early this morning.

It does pay to sleep in, eh? Yeah, error not showing up at all now.

Still getting the problem out here in beautiful Deer Park.

OK, so I hit "refresh and now its gone. Musta been some cobwebs somewhere.

I use Chrome for my browser and was having the same trouble today (same message). I switched over to Internet Explorer and got right in where I read this message. Went back to Chrome and refreshed and seems to work fine now.

Always something

No, there’s nothing there, so I’m sure that’s not the problem.

I’m still getting that stupid “Fatal Error” Grrrrr.

Must not be too “Fatal”…

Youre getting that on the forums main page? Going there from the link in the menus? Are you doing anything else, like searching or posting, beforehand?

It occurs only when I try to go back to the “Forums” main page from one of many pages that I’ve viewed. The problem solves itself when I refresh the screen. I’ve backed out completely, signed out, ended the session in LSC, closed Fire Fox and rebooted Windows, and still occasionally get that “bug.”

If it continues to occur, I’ll keep score.

Curiously, occasionally, from the “Forums” page, when I click on one of the other pages, I’ll get sent straight to the home page. That happens about once a week.

Bob,
the issue seems to be when selecting the Forums menu link on the main forum home page. I have been getting the fatal error message response for days. I use I.E. I can only access the forum by selecting an already open thread on the home page as I have no access to the forum page.

Edit: as others have done, just now when I receive the fatal error message, I refreshed the screen and the forum menu page opened.

Further edit: after the fatal error response screen was refreshed the issue has disappeared permanently. I now have no problem accessing the forum menu page.

sounds like stale cookies/history

Greg

My cookies are fresh. My lovely bride just baked them this morning, I’ll have you know. The chocolate chip ones go fast, too.
