Large Scale Central

Candlewood Valley's ECLSTS Acquisitions

The Candlewood Valley Scenic Railway was fortunate to find buyer’s for some un-needed pieces of equipment to fund new purchases at this years East Coast Large Scale Train Show in York, PA. Several great deals were found and 4 pieces of equipment were added to the roster. By far the favorite is the Bachmann Spectrum Long Caboose. I found an undecorated version for $100 at Nicholas Smith. The paint shop wasted no time in lettering it for the C.V.S.Ry…

I found several great deals on AMS cars at a small vendor. I think it was John’s Trains, but I’m not sure. This AMS Conoco Tank-On Flat was only $40. It was dusty and suffers from the coupler seize issue; but there is an easy fix for that. Shown here on cribbing riding on an AMS idler flat while the shop crew installs the included truck mods…

The AMS Idler Flat came from the same dealer and was also $40. He had two at that price and I really should have taken both. It would make a great base for a box car. Oh well ;[
Last but not least; I saw a Bachmann EBT 2-Bay hopper at Star Hobby for $85 which ws an OK price. Should have passed, but this purchase rounds out a coal car fleet at 5 - enough to serve 1 industry…

Hopefully this brings the total number of cars on the roster up to where industry demands can be met for this operating season.

Cool!

I Actually dropped something in the mail this weekend that you could certainly use Jon

My royalty check? Thanks David :]

Looks good, Jon!

Love those Bachmann cabooses! And I’d buy 2-bays at $85.00 all day long!

I was really excited when I unpacked the caboose. I had no idea that it had a full detailed interior and was already set up for battery power (2xAA) of the markers and interior lamps.

The only down-side it that the vent stack is about 1/8" taller than the portal on my interior loop. That will have to be fixed quickly. Outdoors, it just makes it under the root Hollywood named “Natural Bridge”.

Glad I could be of service.

@Rooster - Got the royalty check. Thanks! And you are welcome for the donkey picture. I need a copy.

…winking…

Jon,

One thing you need to do is make all those caboose handgrabs legal, with a coat of white or alum paint. you logo looks real sharp on the side. i guess there were not to many people shoping for 1:20 items at york as you certainly got some great buys.

Great pictures of some really beautiful toys, Jon!

Oh, by the way, since you asked, the vatcar did a detour to Florida. Remind you of a certain caboose?

I agree, Jon, but painting them keeps the suits from having to fight of the FRA and OSHA.
