Yep, something needed to give errrr I mean get a whole lot more stable. Since I have one of those Delkin Fat Gecko Mini I decided to see how that would work with the extension mounted. I guess it would do a fine job if I could mount it with the arm in the Vertical, but there’s too little room for that. Sooo … it was back to the old tripod solution with the tilt arm supported.
I also stabilized the front with the woodshims that rest on the front of the dash - the portion that doesn’t flex. Then I went for a test in the neighbourhood, hitting every bump, manhole cover depression etc and went too fast over a series of speed bumps. Seems stable enough, all I need now … a cleaner windshield.
And if it works as envisioned I make up some proper parts; good density neoprene comes to mind.
