Winter storm warnings and Blizzard warnings are up for the area. 12+ inches are in the forcast with high winds. The guys on the KMRR have the plow ready and sitting at the Hainsville Yard. The wood stove is cranking as the guys wait in the shop for the first flakes. Temp is 19F. They will try to keep the line open for as long as they can. The worst is supposeto be late today through the night. As long as we dont lose power the guys will keep everyone updated.
you can keep it!
We’re battening down the hatches here, expecting 14-20, with areas of 24+ depending on where you are. YIKES!
Daughter & Son-in-law were determined to get to a wedding in FLA! They are now stuck in NC from NJ and can’t go either there or back!
Lets see… 68F inside, Bills & Patriots on TV soon. 24F outside, snow beginning, Blizzard warning with 12-24 accumulation just flashed on the TV. I think the Porter’s tonnage test train along with any attempts to keep the line open will be canceled
Woodstove’s cookin…
Snow is coming down now. Ran the plow through once. Now sitting in the tunnel waiting for the tracks to get covered. Then plowing fun starts. Wind is also picking up. Stove is cranking nice.
All is quite in the backwoods. The sawmill is shut down for the day and not much activitey going on the camp.

The guys made there first round through the main line. Started to run into some problems through the backcountry, wheels started slipping from icy tracks. Not sure how much longer they guys will be able to keep this up. Not worth getting stuck in the backcountry during a blizzard. The snow is picking up and will be getting dark out soon. Making the round through the yard area

Wine Barrel layout lite up for the Hoidays
Lucky you Shawn
The snow we are getting is to sticky!!
As soon as you move over it it forms packed snow around the wheels!
With 20+/- coming it will be to much to plow in the layout.
I will be spending to much time with the plow in the driveway!
Nice picks Shawn

These photos are pretty neat - posted link to this thread on my Facebook page so the gang there could come enjoy too. Truly hope you guys and those you know come out of this storm without injury or fatalities. Already been two of each among the aforementioned Facebook gang and their extended families/friends. This is a precise scientific (dropped car in snow behind apartment building) measurement of what we had yesterday in Boonville, Missouri. Looks like merely 1/3 of what some of you guys are expecting.

With daylight running out, icy rails, snow and wind picking up the boss decided to suspend operations until the storm is over. Cant afford any injuries or getting stuck in the backcountry. The engine was put away for the evening and the plow left out. With dusk approaching rapidly the guys took shelter, sitting by the warm stoves, sipping a hot cup of coffee, some moon shine and telling stories in the candle lite buildings. Here are some scenes along the railroad. Engine away for the night

Enjoying your pictures with no snow here and really none predicted as it’s all pushing east, sipping Shirley Temples, going through a few years worth of my folks paperwork as the time has come for the big nursing care facility on the hill. …cursing(quietly)…scratching head…cursing even more (quietly)…scratching head…almost finished a 6 pack of Shirley Temples and realized I need something stronger…did I say cursing… You asked??? Your pics look great and can’t wait for updates!
I’ll send ya something stronger, paperwork sucks!!!
Good Luck with the snow guys. Just take it in stride, come July you’ll be wishing for it. Don’t get hurt and keep something close to warm you cockles.
