Call for prizes "Miks Build Challenge 2014"

Open call for donated prizes for “Miks Build Challenge 2014”

It’s almost time for the challenge to fire up. This years inaugural memorial build challenge looks to be the biggest and best ever. As this is one of our clubs (LSC) big events of the year we can make it great amongst ourselves. With some new faces in the crowd this year, the level of competition should really raise the bar to an even higher level then in the past.

I will again annie up a wall size 16x20 canvas print for the grand prize. And a 11x14 print for 2nd place.

Several others have over the past year expressed that they too would like to contribute to the prize fund, and now is the time to step up.

There are several categories that could be sponsored such as best build log, most unique build, and etc. Or even create your own sub category. Even cash for postage would be excepted.

Now if someone steps up with a really grand prize like a live steam K37 all bets are off.

Miks build challenge Rule #1 governs all aspects of this event:

Rule #1:Remember this is a “Fun Build amongst Friends”

Post on this thread, or if you want to stay anonymous back channel me.

EDIT: BTW donating a prize does NOT eliminate you from winning or competing.

I have an unopened Monogram 1926 Logging Truck kit that I’ll toss in the mix. These were fairly hard to get until a couple years ago when Monogram re-released them. This is one I’ve had for maybe 15 years. Un-built, still in box with plastic wrapping.

I have a NIB Bachmann 1/20 Donkey engine sled I can pony up.

I have a question. What are building?

How is what we build judged?

Where would I send my donation?

I’ll donate two Andrew Fletcher prints.
Winners choice…steam or dismal

What will be built will be announced at the start of the challenge.

In the past, members voted for their favorites.

In the past, prizes have been shipped by the donor directly to the winner.
This avoids whoever is running the contest from having to pay out the yazoo for shipping

This is going to be fun!

Ah, ok.

David,

This may help a bit. From last year:

Thanks Bruce. Ya know, I don’t usually make deadlines.

Without sounding like a turd, can the rules be reposted. I was following them for a long time, but for a simple minded person, I became confused.

What can we build?

Size restrictions

Time restraints

is there money restraints

anything else we might need to know

thanks Dennis

Rules aren’t posted until the Challenge starts.
That way nobody gets a head start
Ralph

Thanks so far for the add ons to the prize bucket, This only gets better.

Dennis et, all. This years build challenge is still a secret for now. The challenge will go out officially after the New Year kicks off. Bigger, better and more prizes. Stay tuned and don’t schedule anything to interfere with time to build a prize winner.

I’m still waiting for some one to cough up the k37 thou!

you wouldn’t settle for the pic of one?

Dave

I’ll throw in 4 or 5 custom printed double hung windows and a door. The winner can let me know the size and scale.

My Berlyn K-37 is one of my most prized locomotives. They look soooo good.

Rodney

Rodney, Am I to believe that you’r offering up the windows , the door, and the K37?

WOW….Thanks…

OK maybe not the K-37… I can fantasize can’t I… Besides it would never make it around about 2/3 of my pike, Way tighter radius then the 10,000 feet, that monster takes.

The prize pool continues to deepen…
