Large Scale Central

Calendar of events

On the fourth Bruce listed four events he bookmarked. There could be another one to bookmark and that is the FALL ECLSTS. There is a fundamental difference between the spring and fall shows and that is that the fall show is billed as ALL SCALES.

Bruce, Yeah, we probably do need a name, but just haven’t thought of a good name yet…

Andy’s BS session?..

That is the most accurate description, I’ve heard

And being polite as well!

On a similar note, It might be helpful to also have a list of scenic/tourist railroads & museums perhaps with website links organized by state or area. When my website was up, I started one - I was amazed at the number of of places I had never heard of.

Lets see how that works…

Each spring I do a web search for scenic railroads I can do with a day trip (no overnight stay). I usually have to do a few different searches to come up with a good list. I prefer, if I am going to drive all day, to see a steamer, but I have seen most of them that are within a day’s drive of here. I also have book of tourist railroads, again, not everything is in there.

As for train shows, the NMRA has me participate in like 4 shows a year, the other club does maybe 2, and then there is the spring ECLSTS. Other then that, I dont plan on any.

“Andy’s BS Operations” is pretty well established.

Speaking of a calendar:

I am from Dayton OH. Our G-scale club (Miami Valley Garden Railway Society) always makes a one day (bus) venture during the summer months to see other layouts/attractions. That means we are looking for a concentration of open layouts (if they can be scheduled) to visit. Obviously, trips to Kentucky are in the playing field. We have also gone to Pennsylvania (Trolley Museum) and Maryland for a train ride. So, I’m looking to see what can be arranged for the Dayton club this year. The trip could also include riding a special train, or visitng a roundhouse/museum along the way. Anyone out there have a good list of layouts just waiting to be viewed?

Any recommendations would be appreciated /considered.
