That looks like the one. Clearly USA, but in the Description box he says Aristocraft. Also calls it C9 Unused/Unopened condition but states below it’s been open and sitting on a display shelf. I just love eBay (NOT) !
Those are very nice cabooses, I have a SP one. I would guess the unopened/unused statement is standard ebay language, and not written by the seller. Is something new and unused if it has been sitting on a shelf for a year? I still say, buy it.
Paul
I spotted that one last week. I had a bid on it and the guy cancelled the bid and re-listed it.
No reason or explaination.
So he lost my business. I won’t re-bid.
I just sent the seller an e-mail to ask what happened.
John, All:
Sorry, can’t help with the caboose, but in response to the C9 grading, here is a link to a .pdf of the Train Collectors Association standards:
http://www.tcamembers.org/standards/GradingStandards.pdf
In watching seller descriptions on ebay over the years, it seems many of them either don’t have a clue or are just dishonest. I recently bid on a fairly rare airplane kit. I could see the extremely poor condition of the packaging and the seller (honestly) mentioned two missing parts. Still, he graded it “C9.” When I asked about the grading, he just wrote back that if I won the bid and didn’t like it after I got it he would take it back! Some way to run a sale.
Hope you find your caboose.
Happy RR,
Jerry
