After reading several of u jumping on Reversing units offered free.
Decided I wanted one, had a tough time finding LBG, found Pico 35030 from 200. To 160.$ USA. +shipping.
England
FOund same 109£ to 83£. Did the math, bought England, including AirPost $106.14
Looked at some other stuff, the £ is down vs $.
Wish I had some spare $$s now is the time to buy that Roundhouse I always wanted.
You can build the circuit I posted for well under $20, and maybe under $10.
Todd, some folks do not have the skill-set to build a circuit.
I am not speaking for Bill, I do not know his skill set. But I do know there are folks, who just should not even hold a soldering iron.
Excellent beginners project.
To make it even easier and cheaper, replace R0 with 1K and tie it directly to the chip omitting R1. Also, series a 10K resistor with the 1 meg pot so this value can’t go below 10K.
Same could be said about ALL people getting into MODEL RAILROADING, with no electrical background…BUY THE BOOK “HOW TO WIRE YOUR MODEL RAILROAD”…read it from cover to cover…don’t miss even one page, especially at the front of the book…the often avoided basics.
Even if you can’t manage to learn to solder, at least you can learn enough by reading, to ask intelligent questions, and possibly able to follow instructions from someone trying to help you…you will save the cost of the book, and have it for reference, for many many years of your life.

I would love to build one but when you say R0 and 1K that means nothing to me. I would need pictures of the actual parts. If I saw one actually built I could probably do it easier.
Hi Todd.
Where do you have the circuit posted?
Thanks

BTW, the four diodes can be replaced by a 1 amp rectifier.
Saw the outstanding dwg. Not an electrical but could get through it in about 3 days, my start would be a garage full of wire.
Thus ck book is easiest. My thought, someone who is into this, put it together offer it to the assembled group at say $ 100.
Make a few $$.
Otherwise thanks,
BIll
Daily driver 32 Ford, 350/350 so I can wire something.
Thanks Shannon car shop
Hi Todd,
Thank you, I can build this circuit, make the changes you also posted.
Have fun with your trains,
Al
You can buy the circuit needing modification (monostable mode) for <$1, and almost ready to go (astable) for <$5 on ebay.
In either case you would need to add the dpdt relay and rectifier circuit.
