I don’t see any mention of LGB tie strips or rail! Back to my corner!
Doug,
For professional reasons I’m awaiting the first catalogue of LGBoA products with great anticipation. Like you, I am curious what will or won’t be offered in the track department.
In the meantime there are the alternatives!
as I posted elsewhere…
if LGBoA makes track(maybe, maybe not), why not produce “American” style tie strips, since it would come from LGBoAmerica…
this isn’t meant to cause trouble or fights!
just a question!
cale
Awh, it’s been a week or two without a bicker…,…
Well, I sure didn’t miss it!
BTW I read on another forum that C&OCRY will be doing Code332 brass and stainless rail. I looked on their site but can’t find that announcement.
Stretch has BEEN doing 332 for years.
All kidding aside, I haven’t missed it either. I enjoy the hobby too much to bicker!

So what would be the big news about brass and SS in that code? I couldn’t find it and I don’t get it!?!
BTW the guys at Thiel are busier than beavers trying to keep up with the demand.
The truly amazing part (if you are the type of person to look outside your own little world once in a while) is the obvious lack of participation by those who suddenly showed up to cause all the mayhem they could.
A truly wise person would remember exactly who they were and simply refuse to deal with those any more.
It is quite nice to not have accusations flying…

As was mentioned on occasion, there is very little input from the “flackers” when it comes to actual LS questions. But that’s not a surprise!
I mentioned the heat on the weekend (37ºC = 99F), wellllllllll it sure cooled down, all of 11ºC (52F) and it has been raining most of the day. Was high time, too.

to the topic…
I imagine there are a lot of people with LGB track that would like to have more exactly matching what they already have. For their sake’s I hope someone gets the tie strip mold, or makes an exact copy if no longer manufactured.
For others, I think there are plenty of options out there. For myself, an alternative to the Aristo 332 stainless would be nice to have, if no more than the ability to have a choice in SS.
Regards, Greg
Chris,
It sure wasn’t a “work in the garden” day, but neither was Sunday.
Good days to make trees and work on the websites.
Matching tie strips to L*B’s isn’t difficult as Aristo’s Euro matches about perfect. Remember a certain lawsuit…where the judge ruled that track was track… One may have to punt in the turnout department though…or settle for Aristo’s wide radius.
Several months ago, in the heat of the current debacle, a wealthy modellor from a southern State, dismayed at the failure of his beloved manufacturer, was prepared, should the company cease producing track, to commence production in the popular sizes (an exact copy of the manufacturer in question’s rail). The sun has not set, as yet, on track production.

One of the more interesting wrinkles on that score: Aristo Euro track is apparently showing up in Europe.
Tim,
That is quite possible, however if “whoever” decides on that it would be nice to consider one or two improvements.
Warren Mumpower said:Warren, also remember that AristoCraft lost the action in Germany. They had contravened two German patents held by EPL to do with the joiners and the clips that hold the track sections together. I have some sections of the AristoCraft knock off copies of the LGB tracks. Apart from being of noticeably inferior quality to the LGB track, the Aristocraft was a dead ringer. Right down to the same woodgrain in the ties. I bought the AristoCraft copies from Al Kramer when the panic sell off came from AristoCraft to dump the old stock for at least some return before the revised design became a legal necessity, and the old stock was prevented from being sold.

I cannot believe the old track tooling will not surface somewhere and product be once again made available.
As to AC selling Euro track in the UK and the Continent.
I hope for Bachmann/AristoCraft’s sake they sort out the turnout problems sooner rather than later. European consumers will not put up with what USA ones do.
The other European manufacturers may not be as cheap as the Chinese, but they do make quality products that are usually built to higher standards of tolerance.
As far as I’m aware there was only one batch of Aristo track that was no good. Someone muffed the plastics formula. I have some of the old original Aristo stuff on my indoor layout and it’s still going strong. Turnouts on the other hand… There I use all red box on my layout. As with any outsource manufacturer, one has to watch quality control…from the home office. That Aristo has failed to do in the past.

I HATE Aristo switches, they are crap derailing or stalling almost everything I had.
I checked aroung, found Sunset makes R1 switches…for $199 each! Eeeeeeek!
I think I’ll just trawl Ebay for any LGB switches I might need. I never thought being R1 restricted would end up being a benifit. Those things are like VW parts, they’ll be around for decades!
R1? Hmmm…
I have 5 LGB R1 Switches…and some R1 curves. So…there is a market out there?
