Large Scale Central

Business not wanted?

All - I just got this from a good pal here in yUK trying VERY hard to spend $$$$ in the USA -

Morning Terry
Sorry you missed my ‘electric meet’ on the 24th as we had a Canadian Railroad theme as per the attachment.

On a separate note I wondered if you could use your contact base and find out some information for me

I am trying to buy TWO USA Trains SD 70 MAC in Norfolk Southern livery (black) ref. R22604.
I have sent emails to both Gscale Junction and RLD Hobbies in the States and neither have even replied!
I can pay instantly with paypal. Best prices seem to be around $420.00 plus freight of course.

Best Regards

Did you try Charles Ro in Malden, MA USA as this store is owned by USA Trains!!

Not me, Dan, but I’ll pass it on. As you know, we try hard to support our site sponsors wherever we can, right?

I just checked the instock list at USA Trains and that stock # shows up. That means there is at least one in stock.

I have, in the past when I was still building up my railroad iventory, usually telephoned American dealers. By far the surest method.

Many UK internet providers have low rates for International calls, it cost peanuts on Skype to 'phone the USA.

I do note that Ro’s web site lists the locos as stock.

A suggestion: have your friend send his emails again with return receipt. (and delivery if his email client supports it, Outlook does)

When you send stuff from another country, you risk being filtered as spam.

Right now he cannot prove he sent the email, not to mention that someone got it.

Regards, Greg

I’ve bought from both mentioned (+ the lamented St Aubin). Always phoned them from the UK taking into account the time zones with back up e-mails. Quick efficient and reliable service from both all the time. There might be individual personal reasons for lack of reply with both. These coincidences can happen. Also delt directly with Accucraft/Aristocraft/Bachmann/USAT/SVRR/G-Scale Graphics/Woodland Scenics for both product and spares - same methods and results. Never needed to complain. Some UK dealers wonder why we shop over the other side of the pond. Not just the exchange rate. Max.

I reply to all E-mails I get. It must not have gotten to me. I always check my spam E-mails as well.

Thanks Robby

Actually I’m only thanking you for dealing with Andy!

My method of dealing with American and Canadian train dealers is even better - I walk through the doorway.

So, after all this Tac, will you encourage your friend to re-email (with tracking) Robby?

Looking for resolution on a thread that started by accusing 2 dealerships of poor business practice.
