thinking about that speed, i can see the point, why to model fast trains like these.
one does not have to build so many details. - nobody cold notice them!
swooooosh!

Don’t forget, those Superliners can go pretty fast when they are allowed to.
The Southwest Chief is the only long distance train in the west allowed to go over 79mph. And trust me you can definitely feel the speed when you’re on this train.
Southwest Chief at 90mph:
Haha thats like slow motion compared to the other two videos. We should do LSC gathering on the Acela, Rooster will pay for us.

I think them tickets are a couple hundred a piece. I don’t make nearly as much money as you do.
Matt
You wouldn’t happen to have a link to the different Amtrak consist charts if there even is one?

I think this one is pretty good:
Although the Coast Starlight listed there should have one more sleeper and a few others need to be updated. But it’s still pretty good.
EXCELLENT and thank you Matt!!!
I don’t like any of them consists(ok about 1/2) However I noticed some stuff I’m gonna ignore.
Thanks

Thank you also Mark!
That is reading for later. You guys make me think too much!
Oh sure, now I need more Amtrash. Urrrggg.
Oh yeah forget to mention that most of the consists in that list with 2 locos should have them elephant style. Both facing forward instead of back to back.
Why do they elephant style them??

I don’t think I’ve ever found a definitive answer.
But I’ve heard they do this in case the lead loco hits something or has mechanical issues and no longer can safely lead the train. So the second loco then swaps positions when possible. Easier to do when they both face forward.

There are tons of options for him to do for Amtrac, I’m watching his builds cause eventually I wanna do some of these

As there are built in Plattsbugh a town i’m trying to represent on my layout
When will they be finished?
Oh ran across this today
http://www.nist.gov/mep/upload/specs_bi_level_passenger_rail_car.pdf
Details interior layouts for Amtrak coaches on the last few pages (AKA prurty drawings not done on napkins)
Mine will take a while - Sometime in the next 20 years or so
going to try it in paper 1/87th first to check it out though
or this
Heck Matt,
Just print those out on some Cardstock. Slap some wheels on the bottom and problem solved, you’re all done!!!
They are FULL of manufacturing errors and the projected MSRP price of $2500 a car is outlandish. However the product design was certain to fail from the beginning but the CVRR shops have re TOOLED and they are expected for arrival in early 2015. The Roosternaughts will purchase them and ask for fixes on the internet from guys that are named Sprocket, Idler and Pulley , the rest of his followers that swear there is a container ship coming in for replacement parts will follow.
For those that are following…Thank you LSC hobbyists for allowing me to share what you have made me become!
You guys are the best!
I’d say $1500.00 street value, unless like coins and stamps, manufacturing errors increase their value. Nice work Rooster

Excellent point!
Sure would be nice if an expert could chime in on this thread for view points and opinions.

Expert ehhh.
Well as to value. The Viewliner I’s cost about $1.5 Million a piece. The new Viewliner II’s are about $2.3 Million a piece.
Now I’m not exactly sure how you convert real dollars to 1/29 scale. You could simply divide by 29. Or maybe you should multiply by 1/29 cubed since there are three dimensions; x, y , and z.
I’m more for the cubed school of conversion.
Viewliner I = $62
Viewliner II = $94
So you’re list prices are a tad steep for a 1/29 scale Viewliner.
However if it’s just a simple 1/29 of the price, then your cars are a bargain.
Viewliner I = $51,724
Viewliner II = $79,310
And then maybe I should adjust the Viewliner I price for inflation. After all they were manufactured back in 1995. So adjusting for inflation a Viewliner I would cost about $2.2 million…dang close to the Viewliner II cost.
Experty enough for ya
By the way, they turned out great.
Those wont roll very good. They dont have any wheels!!!
