Building an LSC 17th Anniversary Boxcar

Bruce that is looking very good, I did not see your thread on the vented car, went to that today, it was a very good thread.

I have always loved to follow your postings, so I will be following this one, and go backed to the vented one, and maybe make one for myself.

Thanks! And, just in case you’re afraid you missed any others, I do have a MASTER list. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Before I painted everything, I stuck some pieces of tape on the roof walk parts so I wouldn’t have to scrape the paint off when I wanted to glue on the wood pieces.

And done…

Nice looking freightcar, Bruce… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I just looked at your Master List. Gawd, no wonder you’re so busy! Where do you find the time?

Being retired for 9 years doesn’t hurt a bit! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Hehe…it’s too clean and needs beat up and weathered

Looks great, Bruce. As Rooster shared… It might look nice “beat up and weathered”…

Just like the rest of us… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Well, maybe not too much… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Really nice looking car. Good job! Got good chuckle out of the lettering.

If I had done that, than folks would say it should be nice and clean.

Thanks to all for the nice comments. The car is a nice reminder of this site!

Nah. Just Rooster says that 'cause he can’t wait to tag it.

Well done Bruce. And the color choice ain’t too bad either(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

You’re doing a heck of a lot better then me…the decals have moved from the kitchen table down to the shop…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Sounds like me. Went from the box on the counter to my desk downstairs, and now are in the shop. These things take lots of thought! Just dont want to rush into it…

Cut some wood strips to thickness; just not as good as the professionals do it. But, I don’t think it will matter that much. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

On the real deal for a car of the era yours would fall in to the outer roof that we see was considered expendable and was there to slow down wear of the watertight inner roof. Those wide boards along eaves were often mounted with a gap between them and car side so water could drain from inner roof. Given that situation a little imperfection is probably more perfect than full perfection.

Mine are visible peeking over incomplete car side. Even though they are in that car I’ll probably build one just for the decals. At the rate those cars and the catenary are being made, don’t hold your breath till it happens - how are you at holding your breath for eight years?

You guys are one step ahead of me as I haven’t even purchased them yet!
