Building a modern baggage car from scratch

I don’t play with dollies anymore

Wheres the build portion o this thread? Nice bit of work on your baggage car by the way.

Perhaps you should ask yourself that while chuckin’ a penny into the wishing well?

No wishing well. Mines the well for a future farm house build

David, what did you use for the roof and how did you shape the curve? Jake

David,
Please share some description on how you did the roof and ends a little more too. What trucks did you use?

Thanks!

Chas

It was easy for him. He got on the internet, found a baggage car he liked. Got the credit card out and ordered. All done within two weeks. LOL

Nice Job Dave. It looks great with the other cars and only took you two weeks. we should do these challenges more often.

Come on David, share the details/build pix. I’ve been meaning to make one for ages for my home made streamliner set.

Not ignoring you Jerry but don’t have a real good build log on this other than whats in my head. I was pressed for time you know. I will say the body is cut from 1/4 pvc board the roof ends are shaped from tuf board/trimplank but not ready to reveal the main roof secret just yet. I would like to perfect this a bit more with another build or two.
Chas, The trucks were robbed from an Aristo Streamliner and painted flat black. The handrails are bent 1/16" brass, the end light(red jewels) were robbed from Aristo track cleaner lanterns, the junk underneath is either scratched from styrene and cut up streamliner tanks/boxes.

Secret ? What are you doing? Filing a patent ? I don't think the US Patent office will recognize a patent application from a Rooster  I'm guessing you used that "sign" material. What do they call it? Gator board? Of course, I may just be "goading" you to reveal the big secret. Who knows, I'm not much good at woman's work ;) Ralph

Ralph why do you keep bringing Shawn into your post

From what I can tell from the corrugations, the material is Coroplast. Its basically plastic cardboard. I have stacks of scrap sheets in my garage (I work at a large format print shop). Its very flexible which would make it great for this application. We'll just have to wait for David to reveal his secret though.

LOL Thats because real men play with steam. Us steam guys have to stick together. When all the gas/diesel runs out steam will still be around running.

Dave cant give away his secrete because his wife built the passenger car. Dave was affraid he would break a nail.

Thank you, Chris. I couldn't remember what they called it. I think we nailed it. Rooster's not the quiet type. But he's been real quiet on this topic ;) Ralph

was wondering who built that car…nice

So there is interest in this thread. Thought you guys were more into turn of the century + 50 years max. equiptment?
I will say that insights are correct , if anyone followed prior builds and put 2+2 together should have known that I have used certain materials repeatedly.
Hi Chris,
Shawn,
I have many many merit badges to earn myself to gain “old guy” status. Currently working on two
1… How to properly Jingle change in your pocket while chatting at local events
2…How to properly wear sock suspender’s

Rooster, You're too modest. I understand you can already fart and sh_t your pants :D So that makes three ;) Ralph
