Bruce this is just great work. The micro nuts really make a difference, and I especially love the steam turret. Are the round handles made from snap fasteners?
Also is that regular electrical solder you use, or are you silver soldering?

Mike, yes, those are snap fasteners from the local fabric store. I think they come 12 to a card. I drilled a hole to mount them; they’re brass so they solder OK.
The solder is regular electrical that I got from Minatronics (http://www.miniatronics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT). It seems a lot nicer than the Radio Shack stuff.

…snip… The few pictures of the drivers, give the impression that you have them all the same. Please tell me I’m wrong…!!!I’m afraid you’ll have to live with disappointment, Fred.
What turret where? Father as son#8675309 I state there is an exception to every rule. Note the horror of no guard rails!

OMG! On one of the bridges, there isn’t any rail! Oh, the humanity!

I needed to figure out how to mount the air pumps. I first built some brackets, one for each pump out of some square rectangular tube. I had some channel left over from another project and cut a small section and glued and pinned it to the back of each pump.
I drilled the bracket for some pins and glued them to the boiler.
The pumps will eventually be glued to the brackets, but I need to finish the plumbing first.
The plumbing is coming along nicely. Best not let this one fall off a bridge :o

I have a generator from my old Annie, but it looked a bit too anemic for the Mikado. I cut off the ends, added a couple of Plastruct discs, glued the ends back on. I used some 3/32" tube for the smoke stack. Kept the base, but I needed to add a few legs to the generator after the discs were added. Close enough.
Holy cow this project just gets more amazing every time I look at it. Brilliant modeling Bruce.

Wow Bruce. This is going to be a show winner for sure.
Jon.
I started working on the other running boards. The .060" is a little too flexible, so I ran some 1/4" x 1/16" brass strip underneath and glued it in place. Then tapped it and put in a 0 90 screw. This screw is in line with another bolt and nut that holds a 1/8" x 1/32" brass strip that is used to hold the running board up against the boiler.
Bruce, Great build… I have enjoyed following along… love to see the EBT stuff. Geoff

I "fear the rooster" is to blame... ;)
I still think the rooster is to blame…

Started doing some of the piping on the engineer’s side. The cab is not in place right now; here’s the back end:
I used some pieces from the Annie piping, and filled in with some 1/16" brass rod:
Good Golly - He even modeled the Turbo Encabulator !!!
Where will this madness end ???
In a short plunge off the high loop on Bruce’s layout??? (Ohhh the HUMANITY!)
