I have seen an Expert Opinion that says that to offset the appalling economy , we should spend more .
Then they don’t give out the means .
Funny lot

I can understand this if there is no increased cost of living as will happen in a recession. Any inflation down the road should again kick in the COLA.

There is no inflation because of how they compute the consumer price index. The CPI does not include energy or food costs. Housing and car prices are way down, masking the price increases in other areas. How many people on fixed SS incomes are buying new houses and cars? The food we eat has continued to rise in price. Energy costs are on the way back up. Ralph

David ,
My “cost of living” allowance is more akin to a cost of dying job .
Notwithstanding inflation of at least 4% p.a. . my cola’s have only increased by 2-3% . So over the 20 years since my accident , my cola has effectively been , errr , hmmm , maths is not my best subject , but I think it means I’m wuss off .
Of course , all us ex-service blokes are an easy target—the chaps won’t make a ruckus , they’re too loyal.
And with Gorrrrrdon Brrrrooooooon nicking half our pension funds to prop up his failed spending habits , we see no chance of improvement soon . I can see why the miserable plank never smiles .

Not politics , you understand . Just telling the truth . And where does that come into politics ?

Mike the wearer of sackcloth .

It is interesting how the math for the CPI or whatever they call it now keeps changing. Just like the Domestic Gross Product continually moves. New math?

Hang in there bloke. I’m in a similar boat, some government and veterans disability payments and veterans medical care. Our veterans health care system is prolly as bad as your social medical care.
