Nice work, liked all the other projects on that web page that you had done also. Nice you show things step by step. Might try the copper wire rail soldering thing. You pin them down to something, when soldering?
Best thing to do is clamp them in a vice and get the joints real hot before applying solder and use lots of flux. the last thing I need to do is replace the stove pipe.
