Well, it is a representation of the real “steam” crane but without the steam power plant giving the energy for actions by the crane. Thanks for J Kling for his masterful RC battery install.
Very impressive! I have a picture, some where of a UP unit at Huntington OR from long ago in Silver! Now if I could only find it! Paul
Awesome job!!! Is that a kit or scratch built one?
Looks like a fun project. Gives me hope that someday I can build a operating Pettibone, and get my Snow Dozer finished!
One cool looking crane. Thanks for posting. Later RJD
Wow Charles! That is very magnificent indeed. Unbelievable every thing that must be packed in there. Right down to the steam engine turning. The only thing that hit me while watching and listening to the horrible screech of the servos was that it needs a custom Phoenix sound system. Think you have room left in one of the truck frames for that? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)What a sight and sound it would be though. Very nice model.
WoW Very nice work… Act’s and looks very real. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Charles, that one very fine model… What a great sight to actually see it work… (http://forums.mylargescale.com/images/icons/icon14.gif)(http://forums.mylargescale.com/images/icons/icon14.gif)(http://forums.mylargescale.com/images/icons/icon14.gif)(http://forums.mylargescale.com/images/icons/icon14.gif)(http://forums.mylargescale.com/images/icons/icon14.gif)
Charles,
That is very nice model, detail is second to none… I have a Gal Line 250T 1/29 scale crane, watching yours operate kinda lit a fire in me.
Sounds like it was refitted with R/C gear, verses the factory installed equipment? I’d suggest digital servos were utilized, due to the high pitched squeal I hear. If your interested, I have some thoughts on eliminating said chirping and perhaps slowing down the movement or action of the crane too. Garnered extensive experience with R/C equipment, especially servos once upon a time as a Manufacturers Rep…

All that is missing is a MTH smoke unit!
Love it!
Yep that would be cool to put the sound, smoke unit and then set the chuff. Later RJD
