Bridgework

I will have to do some experimenting with it. I would have thought the spikes would work loose. Which ones are you using? I may even go back and hand lay my bridges!

Good weather, so the bridge ties are laid in place. I’ll use a few black zip-ties to hold it on underneath (as soon as I figure out what I did with them)

And the approach track from the upper loop is done.

I need to ease the approach here about another 1/4" to make it a bit more level. On the far side of the bridge, you can see the difference in bridge deck height, and where the spline is now. Lotsa work to do over there!

Looks good. Almost like the spot was made for it.

Doug; DON"T use stainless steel rail spikes…they do tend to pull out.
I use Micro-Engineering steel/Railcraft spikes. I wet them when I use them; it starts them rusting, which keeps them from pulling out readily over time.
You would expect them to rust away, but in over 15 years I haven’t lost one. Of course this is on a bridge where the ties are not sitting in moisture most of the time, and I’m not anywhere near salt air.

Yep, it fits there nicely. Just needs some more rock work, ballast, and some thyme under it.

Sure won’t be steppin over that one the way we did the other one…

Looks real good…

That really dresses up the spot

Stop trying too talk like your children.......GROW UP! :)

Got the lower loop connected back to the bridge, and started raising the posts (I need more deck blocks!). Having the track connected allowed me to run a clearance train.
