Bridgewerks & LGBoA

Hi all,

Interesting announcement regarding LGBoA now being the exclusive distributor for the Bridgewerks products.

The first question that popped into my mind when I read it this morning: “Does that mean that all the disclaimers of the warranty being void unless used with a LGB power supply are now a thing of the past?”

Wasn’t there at one time an issue with the Bridgewerks products having a no-load output that was a bit above what certain makes could handle??

At least I remember recommending the installation of a load resistor to keep the voltage “clamped” - well it isn’t really clamped, but at least it should prevent some of the “glitching”.

Will be interesting to see what comes next, but it sure looks like the LGB Jumbo is “passé”.

Wondered about that myself Hans !
Maybe there making them compatable now ! :>)

Bryan,

You never know, but I wouldn’t bet on it quite yet. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for the first “my just went up in smoke” posts.
OTOH there are some people who chuckle when they read that it is a “reasonable” procedure to measure first and curse later - or better yet, not curse at all.

Time will tell!

I’ve never had any problems with Bridgeworks beyond the fact that their key fob remote sucks. Even my LGB/Aster Mike has run with the Bridgeworks. (That is what was being used the day I took the pix of it that I recently posted in another forum.)

Warren,

As long as there’s a load there should be no problem, from what I’ve read the problem only shows when there’s no load or too small a load.

Easy to check, disconnect the powersupply from the track and measure what the no-load voltage is when you’re at full throttle.
If it’s a nicely regulated supply the voltage shouldn’t go above whatever the max. rating is. Which should apply to the Power-Mag, but does that apply to the Mag-15 or the Magnum series??
