Bridge detailing

OK, it’s time to “legalize” my bridges! I’ve got one on the workbench that will be installed on the siding for the mine. It will get it’s rain barrels but how dar in front of bridges did the bridge rails begin? And what other details do I add?

Istill have the challenge of retrofitting two trestles! Oh, those pesky angles for water barrel platforms!

I think the answer is “it depends”. I’ve seen them start right where the bridge starts, but what I think looks best is if they start 10-20 feet (scale, mind you) before the start of the bridge.

YMMV

Try RGS.com and go to the technical page . Good info on trestles and bridges

Pictures, where are the pictures!!! Is it done yet!!!

Phather Phred will be pleased.

I tried to find the trestle detailing information but reg.com is not a train website. I was hoping that Rio Grande Southern hobbies had a tech page but I didn’t see one either! Anyone know where to find it?

And I’ll have pictures soon!

Doug; spent some time in the NMRA Infopak and did not find the info you need. I would suggest you take a field trip and find a bridge or trestle and measure it. Just don’t walk on the track, for safty reasons.
