BREXIT Exchange rate leverage

As I have British family we have a UK bank account so we watch exchange rates. The Brexit vote has pushed the £ to about 1.3 $ per £. They also pushed the VAT (sales tax) rate to 20% a few years ago, but we don’t pay that on export deals.

This means that UK stuff is about 20% cheaper this summer. A £1000 item is £834 pre-vat or about $1090. Shipping seems to run £100 or so.

I found a couple of locos, a Regner and an Accucraft that I think are discontinued and sold out here. Good deals!

That VAT rate of 20% UP from 17.50% was SUPPOSED to be temporary during the latest recession as was the Purchase Tax which preceeded it in 1914 to help pay for for WW1 !!! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Funny how taxes never go away. Americans fight their elected leaders every time they ask for more and sometimes the populace wins.

I should point out that my UK locos do not come with a US warranty!
