Break in the weather

Should have took advantage of the weather and worked on my Challenge project. But hey, boys will be boys. Took a trip Friday to Norfolk Southern’s Old Fort loops. Stopped at Greenlee on the way and spotted this MOW Gradall.

Stopped at Andrew’s Geyser at the Old Fort Loops. This is a nice shoot location as you are between two of the loops and can shoot each train twice.

Unfortunately, Andrew’s Geyser was Andrew’s Spidle this particular day. You can barely make out the track about half way through the tree line.

The Geyser being turned off was probably an omen, as we spent all day and never saw one train :open_mouth: Must have been some track work going on. On a typical day we’d have seen at least a couple of trains in each direction. Here is the view looking across the Geyser the other direction.

Friday night after we returned my brother hit a big buck and totaled his truck. I told him it was his fault we didn’t see any trains, as he was obviously having a bad MoJo day  Sunday I ran trains. The 4-4-0 pulled the SVL coaches for a bit, but was retired early due to front pilot derailments.

The Annie’s had no derailment issues.

Nice pics. Sucks about the truck.

Yep, totaling your truck is not the best way to end a day.
But my brother did have full coverage. I tried to talk him into dropping the collision about a year ago.
Good thing he never listens to me

Nice pictures Ralph. So thats what the ground looks like. LOL I hope you guys took that buck home and having it for dinner.

…grinning…

Nice fall pics Ralph. Shame about the truck, but venison stew is always good on a cold day

I love that red on your Annie.

Thanks,
I had a lot of problems with blistering paint on that loco.
Fortunately I was able to salvage a decent looking paint job in the end.

Yea, it was 65 when I came through Fayetteville on Sunday…24 when I reached Philly that nite.

We drove back from Florida on Sunday to participate in our “Blizzard of the Century”. We are suppose to have a couple of interesting days.
