Large Scale Central

BRAWA Joins LGB Family

FYI…

BRAWA Joins LGB Family

LGB of America is happy to announce one more addition to the growing LGB family: BRAWA. Effective immediately, LGBoA is the exclusive importer, distributor and service center for BRAWA G-scale (IIm) models.

“There is a very enthusiastic core of Swiss railway fans in North America,” said Tony Castellano, President of LGBoA. “And with BRAWA, we can offer them an even greater selection of very unique, highly authentic Swiss trains.”

The core of the BRAWA G-scale program is the RhB G4/5 steam loco (LGBoA Nos. 3510001 for digital, 3510000 for analog), a beautifully detailed mainline steamer unique to the BRAWA program. However, the BRAWA G-scale program also includes passenger coaches, freight wagons, and accessories that can be used on all kinds of G-scale layouts.

“From our testing, we know that BRAWA products are already high quality, and we´re working closely with BRAWA to configure those products with the functionality our customers expect,” said Jonathan Meador, LGBoA´s Product Manager. “For example, BRAWA’s technical department is programming its digital locos to be as close as possible to LGB MTS-style operation. Plus, all LGBoA/BRAWA locos, both digital and analog, are equipped with with low-noise Maxon motors.”

Additional BRAWA information is available at www.brawa.de.

Interesting!

That means LGBoA finally gets a good look at what 1:22.5 scale is all about!

Other than that, nothing new; but it will be interesting to see how they market “real scale” items. How they market “as close as we can get it” items, we already know.

And naturally at what price point Brawa 1:22.5 will be hitting the market in NA.  Could be a lucrative business for “club imports” from Europe.

Oh yes, for those who are interested in the BRAWA 1:22.5 items the direct link is http://www.brawa.de/en/Brawa-Modelleisenbahn-Englisch.html

And no, there isn’t a mention of “G” (wie Gummi) on the BRAWA website, the scale is listed as IIm (2m).  A very large difference for those who know!

HJ did you ever post a video of your 2-8-0 RhB ? Or have I missed it already .

HJ,

I’ll pass along your concerns

Thanks!

Not yet, after all the “kind remarks” I decided to construct an elevated loop at the office, two fold advantage a) continuous run of whatever engines need to be run in i.e. set up with the ZIMO MX 690 decoders (naturally with the “in house sound”) b) perfect opportunity to test out all kinds of extra functions which can’t be done with a point to point DCC set up. Sooooo, don’t change the channel, lots of stuff in the pipe! But first we need to get the nice orders for our European/German distributor out the door. Lots of 1:22.5, 1:32 and smaller trees.  Large boxes, large boxes! No, they’re not red; but we use Pink Styrofoam for packing, method is “proprietary”!

No need to, BRAWA know what they sell. Unlike some other people we all know!

This is interesting to say the least. I wonder what Lewis Polk has to say. The last I heard Aristocraft was the sole distributor for Brawa in the US. But then again…times do change.

I doubt if he is upset or dissapointed as he is the manufacture of the guts that makes it go. Rather a change in the market as LGB is now an Aristo Craft Distributor by proxy. I noticed a post the other day where they told a poster not to use Aristo PWC for one of their locomotives, but that it was ok to use Aristo Craft Power in Linear mode.

A softning of the hard ass mentality? Who knows?

Most all of the Large Scale Manufactures belong to the Garden Trains Assn except USA Trains and they set back and suck off the rest. These guys pool close to 100K each year and spend it to promote the hobby.

So nothing that happens is a surprise.

Hi Ron,
You surely do have a way with words.
I am sure Charlie Ro would be delighted hear that he just sits back to “suck off” the rest.

So to speak!!

Warren,

OTOH I don’t recall Lewis having a big advertising campaign for BRAWA or for that matter KISS, which he was to represent prior to BRAWA.

If LGBoA can make a go of it, more power to them (oooops did I write that??), but let’s see first where the price point sits.  Remember the wonky PIKO Taurus pricing.

I thought the Maxon stepped belt drive system was developed by DigiToys?

Best regards,

That’s a well kept secret.

And there is some more background to that.
