Brass Wheels For Sale

I have 12 axles with brass wheels that I bought on ebay. There are 8 loose, and 4 in a bag.

I had no idea how small they were until I opened the package! Here they are compared to a USA or Aristo wheel:

I’m sure that somebody here can use these. I thought they might be Narrow Guage, but you can see they fit on “normal” (45mm?) track. Could someone identify these?

I paid $64 plus shipping. Will sell for same.

Might want to note the following things:

tread diameter

axle end diameter

axle length

for me, I’d want the thickness of the flange at the base (nearest the tread) and also if the wheels are insulated on both ends of the axles (it appears so)

Regards, Greg

Lou, they are nice looking and would go well on my narrow gauge rolling stock, but a over $22 per car, that’s a bit steep.

So I got a real bargain, eh?

Greg - I will measure them in morning. Bed time hereabouts.

Lou

Well, they look like they were intended for pilot wheels on a steamer from comparing the size.

Nice and heavy would be a good choice.

Greg

Measure them in mm. If they are around 26.1 mm to 27 mm in diameter they are about right fir 1:32 scale.

When fate hands you a lemon, make lemonade. They’re actually top quality wheels.
They’d work very well under six small mine tips.
If you make your tips of brass you could create some excellent high-end custom models.
Naturally you’d want to take an assembly-line approach to such a project.
I’d be saving them for that.

No John, not another project.

Tread dia 1.1 cm circumference .8375 in

Axle end circum .35 cm .128 in

Total Wheel Circumference 2.6 cm 1 in

Both wheels insulated from shaft (axle)

Your mileage may vary.
