I have a new usa gp7 that has no lights even if switch is on or off any suggestions? Thanks for any help Troy.
Not to ask a dumb question but does the loco have power? If I remember the gp7 draws front and rear light power from two different places. So, if you have no lights maybe a switch problem then?
Terry
By new, do you mean from the new run of GP-7s done this last year?
The lights in all the GP-9s I have worked on (older models) are powered by 3-volt regulators fastened to the weights.

The lighting circuit boards are fastened to the main circuit board with white plastic 2-wire connectors. If you unplug them you could test to see if the lights work by powering them with 3 volts (2 AA-cells).
There are instructions on how to open the GP-7 in this article ADDING AN MU CONNECTOR TO A GP-9 on our club web site.
I assume you have checked all wiring? I had a s-4 that had light wiring not plugged together correctly. Just a thought before ripping your hair out.
Not yet it does run fine on track power back and forth but no lites either way switch on or off. I will have to look under the hood for the problem thanks i will keep you updated.
Be sure to tighten the screws on the regulator/s.
All the USA diesels I opened had loose regulator screws and this is not good for the heat transfer.
These devices will shut down if over temperature.
And the GP7 lights could be a cable unplugged from this regulator.
