Box Cabs

Hmmm… Betty he BoxCab ???

Oh McCown’s going to go nuts over that!

Great looking Boxcabs Gary!

Not to mention Garys boxcabs have one of the first LED headllight installations and are super bright!

They are tempting…

Yes, Ric, 1/24, I made some adjustments to dimensions to fit the power truck I blew up the drawing in the instructions for the Grandt kits and went from there. According to the instruction sheet they were 25 ton units. The link at the bottom covers 20 and 23 ton units.

Here’s the page on my site showing how I did mine http://www.raccooncrkrwy.com/Rcgrr-17.htm And here is a link to some prototypes http://sbiii.com/jfcageir/ageir40.html

Here is another version.

Now, that would be a sight to see, a Rooster in a dress..... hmmm, on second thought, no it wouldn't......

As someone pointed out in another thread, my boxcab is unfinished; I can only hang my head and admit that it’s been unfinished for nearly two years now. Maybe the current flurry of boxcab interest will get me off the dime and out to the workshop:

About the only unusual feature is the riveted aluminum body, shown here in an early construction photo:

When I had the body parts laser-cut (it takes a HUGE laser!), I made enough parts for two more boxcabs. If the spirit ever moves me to start another, I’ll post construction photos in a build log. Steve

So, Ric. Got those photos ready to post yet?

Yery nice! The aluminum is a neat touch…Like!

So what is the status of the potential Box Cab Kit that was talked about shortly after the Invasion?

Currently in design phase. I'm working out the CAD drawings right now. Once I'm happy with those, Ill manually cut a set of the acrylic and do a test assemble, and then start building out the details.

I’m looking forward to it!

Bob,

For those of us who weren’t at the Invasion, what’s the general concept of the boxcab kit? Single-truck? Double-truck? Specific prototype?

Just curious.

Steve

For the record…
