Borracho Springs Locomotive Works reopens for business

From chaos comes order …order? well… something came out.

Recently got a bunch of stuff now that I have time this winter. First up, a new climax based on the old HO Model DieCast Climax model. I built one years and years ago but sold it as it was too big. This one is much more compact and works way better on my compressed layout.

The locomotive looks bloated…PERFECT!! I love it!
I want to model it myself! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
It is if…I’m looking at the Mona Lisa of Choo Choo’s

Thanks, it’s by a longways the HEAVIEST loco on my roster. It has the weight in the saddletank, the weights in the drive blocks, and added birdshot weight in the bunker to try and balance the front/rear weight distribution. I built it after I was able to acquire several NOS Aristo short drive-blocks which were always my favorites to bash with. I also acquired two Tom Yorke large scale kits and a resin centercab kit I will be bashing a couple Macks with. I plan to divest all my over(regular)sized stuff going solely with only the shorty stuff that works best on my layout.

Vic;

Really nice job! Kinda’ reminds me of the HO MDC Roundhouse Climax from back in the day. I finally splurged on their HO boxcab track cleaner (same chassis), which still works today - although I have no HO layout.

Hi Dave, that’s exactly what I modeled it after. I’ve always liked that chunky little monster. I built a larger one several years ago but sold it. I wanted to build another for a while now. :grinning:

Wow look at that bash. Is it a Climax class A, a box cab, a camel back or?? It sure is neat.

Vic;

Many years ago, RMC magazine had an article featuring that same HO Climax working an ore transloading facility. It was titled - wait for it - “The Climax at Ore Chasm.”
