Bore You With More SOU 630 Videos

I have more Southern 630 videos
Last year they ran this trip from Chattanooga, TN. to Summerville, GA. without diesel assist.
Not so lucky this year. But at least they used a vintage diesel

Don’t ya just love when you spend time setting up a shot and a couple of yahoos with a point-and-shoot that are completely oblivious to others trying to take pictures plop themselves in the middle of your shot?

At least you were polite and didn’t scream expletives at them. I have that in one of my EBT videos coming from the guy next to me when someone did the same.

I figure I get the last laugh. Her big ole pregnant self will spend eternity on Youtube

Well, I was going to comment on the size of the behind, but wanted to be sure it wasn’t a friend first :] As I watched the opening I was sorry the train was moving so slowly and she didn’t trip on the rail. Well no, I really didn’t want her to get run over, but a little scare wouldn’t have hurt!

@Rooster - No photos required.

Had that happen more then once.

I noticed they didn’t have the extra tender like they had in Roanoke, that was probably the reason for the diesel assist.

Thanks Ralph, sorry I couldn’t make that trip. Are they planning on being in Roanoke again next year?

Ken,
The TVRM hasn’t released the 2014 schedule yet.
I’d say it’s a safe bet they’ll be in Roanoke again.
The excursions sold out last year.

They are working hard to get the Southern 4501 finished for next year.

It doesn’t look like they will have her done by Spring. But Summer & Fall are a possibility.
Once the larger 4501 is finished, I suspect she’ll be running the ā€œout of stateā€ excursions.

Interesting videos Ralph, good watching. I did see 630 at Roanoke earlier in the year on the web cam.

It is nice to see the varnish going by especially as most web cams feature Class 1’s which are usually freight.

Nice, thanks for posting Ralph. while there are always those who manage to get in the way of a perfect shot, I couldn’t help enjoying the enthusiasm of the youngster in the first video. Just maybe his interest will lead him into a hobby with trains.

Gary,
I didn’t mind the boy at all. He was really jumping around and excited in some of the footage I cut.
They were standing at the road crossing, and I expect that.
As I was up pretty high, I was able to crop them out of some photos. Left them in others.

No Buffett music. I was lured in to watching these under false pretenses. Still good video.

Great video’s Ralph… Keep them coming…

Dbl. hit for some reason??

Thank you, Ralph. I have already had a great day, but you made it even better. Nice choice.

Nice videos of a ver ynice looking engine. My favorite is going over the bridge. It looks like they ballasted the deck over the trestles. That is unusual to do over a wooden deck is it not?

Todd,
Not unusual if you run steam engines. They don’t want to burn down the trestle
Ralph

And if you watch closely in one of the videos with the train going over the bridge you can see some ballast fall into the water below. I think its just as the HEP car is crossing. At first I thought they were dumping something (remember the old open bottom railroad toilets?).
