Bobber makeover

This Buddy L bobber was black and pretty ugly. A little paint, “glass” for the windows, chains and decals made quite an improvement. Ralph

A bit improvement! I gotta do that to mine one of these days.

Are those B’mann couplers?

Ralph, that’s a very classy Bobber, great job…

Joe, They are Buddy L couplers. Very similar to the Bachmann couplers. The bobber itself is very similar to the Bachmann bobber. Several parts are indistinguishable. Ralph

Thanks Andy and Ray.
It is a classy bobber. Real gold chains

I certainly like your caboose Ralph, very sharp looking. You have, indeed, made a great job of upgrading the caboose for your pike.

I like the color scheme - and the herald too

Nice improvement Ralph

Jon, The herald was obviously designed by a talented individual :) I'm waiting to see what he comes up with for the Sunny View Line ;) Ralph

It’s quite snappy!

That looks great! Nice color scheme and the details make it

I have a Lionel Christmas bobber I decided to paint. The Lionel Bobber is just a bit taller, wider and longer than the Buddy L and Bachmann bobbers. I didn’t really like the Lionel much at first. But I decided to keep it because of its size. I had two Aristo bobbers and they were just too small to go with my rolling stock. Here is the Lionel on the right and Buddy L on the left. The Buddy L is the same size as a Bachmann bobber.

The Lionel has single axle swivel trucks. I replaced the plastic wheels with Bachmann steel wheels. Ralph

Very nice, Ralph. I like the color scheme…

I just figured out what it is that I like so much about both of Ralph’s color schemes… It’s the window frames, and in the case of these cabeese, the cupolas. It’s not unusual to see contrasting grab-irons, railings and maybe even doors, but few railroads took the time to paint window frames in a contrasting color. The contrasting frames on these and the Sunny Valley coaches really make them look great. Nice Job !

They look great Ralph. That’s a good thing Jon

I’ll never look at my bobber the same! Nothing like a skilled craftsman at work!

No skill or craftsmanship here. Bruce, Ray, Jerry B and many others are craftsman. I'm more akin to a beautician. Hence the word makeover. Others can make a silk purse from a sow's ear. I just make a sow's ear look better ;) Thanks for the compliment, though.

And after painting all those window sashes in the coaches, I understand why the RR’s didn’t bother
Ralph

They look great. You sure have been busy painting. Watch those paint fumes they might make you do crazy things like expand the RR more. LOL
