BNSF in the desert

Having seen/read a few articles in TRAINS mag - one of two Kalmbach products to which I subscribe - I was curious to see what Google would serve up in Images.

Damn! OK Google “BNSF in the Desert”. No idea why that link won’t work.

Really amazing stuff, while it’s mostly modern i.e. 4000+hp rules, lots of interesting stuff to model if so inclined.

The link won’t work for me HJ

Andrew

I guess it is high time to add Tiny URL to the link bar. TEST: http://tinyurl.com/mgqsak8 YEP, BINGO!

http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&docid=dTpXGIl1WyvxfM&tbnid=iBEK01wvt5BofM:&ved=0CAUQjBw4pQE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmw2.google.com%2Fmw-panoramio%2Fphotos%2Fmedium%2F2018616.jpg&ei=r4FcU8vEL9O_sQSnmIGIDQ&psig=AFQjCNGjiofrKYax0aVIiU9TUbw3CbYMaA&ust=1398657839841997

Scenes, such as this are a common site out west. Trains with 150 plus cars moving along and looking like rattle snakes as they serpentine their way across the desert. BNSF, UP move allot of freight across the desert in some of the most brutal but beautiful environment.

Stacy,

Your luck is no better than mine was with that Google link.

If you high light the text, it will bring you to another page and then arrow on that link and viola:

The picture comes to life.

What is so hard about posting pictures?

Very easy if the link refers to one specific picture, the hiccups start when the link refers to the search results page for Google images. But Tiny URL comes to the rescue.

Other than that, looking at the pictures that Google serves up and then using “The Typical” as a guide it should be reasonably easy to come up with a BNSF desert theme without having conniptions and/or break Fort Knox.

That rattler looks pretty short.

I think it is longer than it looks at first. It drops below a hill after the first loop and you can just see more of it in the distance on left.

NOPE. Just looked at it more closely, That is the remote pusher on the tail. My mistake.

For the conspiracy theorists that say the moon landings were fake, I think the pic in the post by Joe proves they did! Well, it seems BNSF are running trains up there.

We have longer ones in the garden.

Garden railroading is FUN!

The infamous Canadian Tomato Rattle Snake.

Well he was very vocal after he got evicted to the Park. Loaded him on a metal leaf rake and off he went, got told to stay in the park and he talked back all day every time I went to look if he was still there.

The next one got sprayed with water and retreated to the neighbour’s garden. They sure like our pseudo Swiss Alps.
