Every railroad build has a story and your is really building, Great story and thanks for sharing ,
Thanks Sean. I hope to begin the last phase of railroad building shortly. I still need to take a few trees down in the front. Just preventative care more than anything at this point. And with no landscaping in the way it should be a easier drop.
And no the railroad won’t occupy the whole front yard. It will take just a small section.
We have to figure out what we are going to do for the rest of the front yard area as well.
You could incorporate a paver patio with seating , and some small low border flower gardens to enjoy with or with out the trains (no mowing needed)
We will probably do a patio of some sort and some flower areas. With plenty of sunshine in this area we might make a section for a vegetable garden.
I need to measure and start drawings ideas.
The middle kid says we need a pond and waterfall feature.
Rocks from Washington on Oahu? I am sure I’ve been stuck in traffic upon them may times! Now, I know it has an LSC connection!
Eric
Next time you see the hwy crew working you can ask for a 5 gallon pail.
It’s pretty interesting that it’s shipped nationwide for bridge projects. I thought for sure there would be other places that make this but apparently our hard granite out here is the best.
If you have nothing better to do than waste a half hour of your time, consider listening. I got asked if I’d be interested in a interview for a small (2.6k subscriber) train talk media podcast.
Maybe one day I’ll make the big leagues of modeling podcasts.
Nice job, Craig!
Thanks. It was supposed to be a short phone call, but an hour and quarter later I hung up. He did a good job editing out some of the fluff.
Enjoyed learning the background and history of your railroad modeling.
Great job on the interview.
Well done!
A lot makes sense now
I agree with Sean. The background information really explains a lot! Great job!
Hey Craig,
When will it be finished?

Rooster,
Hopefully soon! I got asked if I wanted my layout on the NMRA national convention tour next summer. The organizers said yes, I have a good layout but need to get more done.
I’ve got 4 buildings left plus my massive feed mill for structures. I’m currently working on one of them at the moment.
And the layout has maybe 75-100’ of bench work to be built. But before I can start that I had to clear out my front yard. Tomorrow the last 3 trees come down.
I’m hopeful that I can get the last section built before the rainy season starts. We generally have nice September’s out here so I got a couple months left of building season.
This is a building I just finished.
Still need to do the parking lot area…
And a part of what I’m currently working on while waiting for more cans.
Great job on the podcast! I enjoyed learning more of the backstory to your railroad.
